More regularly you see old people in their early to mid 70s who still have their parents with them, well and alive.

Yesterday evening on Facebook my mouth fell open from surprise when I saw this 92 year old lady, who my dad knows, dancing with her grandson who is 46 himself already. This old lady still had her natural black hair color and was dancing a boogie. She still knew very well how to lead the dance and she was in top condition for her age. She could easily pass for a 70 year old.
Her eldest son is 73. She lost one child in 2003, who would also already be 68 himself if he still lived today.

Amazing how energetic this woman still is at her age.
And how good with her mind she still is.

I often think how weird it must feel if you are a 70 year old yourself already and you still have your parents with you. Really strange and special.

I would so love to experience that myself.
One day I hope to reach 70 year old myself and to have my parents who are 26 years older than me, still being alive. I know it’s asking for a lot to want my parents to become at least 96 but that is a big wish I cherish. Growing old with my parents at my side. I also want my brother to still be there as well by then. He would be 67 when my parents would be 96. Would be my biggest desire to experience that. Must be so beautiful.

But also weird because many of these very old people survive one or two of their children.

Super centenerians always survive one or two of their children who themselves died from old age.

I am so fascinated with very very old people.
Must be so special and strange that almost everyone of your generation passed away and you are still there.
Must be so fascinating to have seen the world change.

Must also be funny to be 97 or 98 or 105 and have your 80 year old kid still listening to you when you give them an order : “ Yes mom “ :-D

I can not describe how beautiful and fascinating I find this.
I love being around older people. They are a treasure and have a wealth of knowledge. I love how they carry the secrets of history within themselves.
I prefer listening to the stories of super old people with a good cup of coffee than going out with the young crowd.

These old people make you so happy that someone of that generation still lives to pass on the secrets of these old times and old generations.

It fascinates me both from a social and cultural point of view but especially from a scientific point of view and more specifically a biological point of view.
I wonder how their genetics allow them to live so long.

I wonder what mischief they were up to when they had my age. I wonder if they miss the older times.
I love to explore their thoughts.

The most interesting super centenerian ever is Jeanne Calment to me. 122 years old. She lived 2 lives. I wonder what special gene she had that made her live so long. I wonder why her record was never broken?

I also wonder when science will come up with rejuvenating techniques for the organs and the genes so that more people can make it past the 100 year old mark.

My parents and grandparents are still alive, and living on their own, and they know if and when the time comes that they cannot function on their own and needs help, they have their kids and grandkids to lean on .

Ive told my parents and grandparents if they ever get to that point they are moving in with me or my brother or sister, end of story.

And yes I am truly blessed to have my parents and grandparents around and they are healthy as healthy can be.

I lost my Dad when I was young and my Mom last year. And you " feel" it when both are gone.

Both of my parents are gone but I was born later in their lives. I used to work with a man who was 70 and lived with his mother. I was a young mother and grandmother. I'm hoping to live long enough to get to see great grandkids and maybe even great great grandkids.

I love my parents so much. I want to see them live up to over 100. I cannot imagine how empty my life would be if they weren’t there anymore.

To be honest I thought you were late 20s or early 30s. Never would have guessed you were a grandmother already.
I hope my parents get to live long enough to meet their great great grandkinds as well.
I hope they will survive me.

Thanks. I was 36 when my grandson was born. He is 10 now. It's nice being young enough to enjoy playing with my grandsons.

It may seem to you like that now, but when it happens and after the sorrow fades abit you will smile thinking of them and as you remember things about them.

And you will see yourself using the things that they taught you every single day. They will still be part of your life.

One of my favourite posters is a grandma at 46, I find that fascinating, think about this, when you hit Betty White's age you folks could be a great great great grandmother.

And what would be cool is if you have the picture representing all generations.

I know another person I play baseball with who is a grandma at 45 and we tease her all the time in good fun , we call her the sexist granny second baseman to ever played that position.

Maybe you have some Asian blood in you OP, they absolutely
revere their elders, it is a sight to behold, it is most genuine.

Losing parents can be devastating..no matter your age..the loss
can be overwhelming.

Treasure them, as you seem to be doing..tell them what you told
us about them, I think they would be most pleased ;-)

I know I spoil them :)

I think for me one of the best things about having the grandkids while I am young is that I know.. well basically know what they perceive as cool or in style. So they think their " Poppy" is ... the best Poppy in the world.. and I eat up every minute of that :)

I'm the favorite grandma because I have toys at my house that belonged to my youngest daughter. I take them to the park too.

I will go back to Germany one day, my parents own a house over there. Big enough for two families, so maybe one day, my soulmate will join me
