Topic: how to go from a DH'r back to Mingle | |

No need to 'splain. Looks like most of the Dhers are either gone or going. You all can reclaim your sand box.

Actually like seeing the forums active....
It is difficult for both sides to adjust~~~ Here it is about more or less keeping the post to how you would talk with a kid in the room... All due to Sponsor's the reason the Sex Forum was removed... It takes a bit of adjustment getting use to it.. There are Filters that will catch curse words.. But as long as ya play nice there is no issues.. If so just report it.. As far as those you get in your e-mails report those Mods don't deal with them Admin does.. And believe it or not they really do ban several hundred a day... |

Each forum has it's pluses and minuses.
I've been on a couple that tried to have open rules on forms of expression, shall we say, and some tried to have open rules on subject matter. The ones I've tried that had no or few rules, always suffered from human behavior that reminds me of a minor incident when I was in grade school. One day, my fifth grade teacher brought candy in, and put it in a dish on her desk, for us to snack on during quiet reading assignment time. The moment she announced that it was there, a small hoard of about a third of the class, rushed to the desk and started grabbing handfuls. The teacher was dismayed greatly, and naturally opted never again to do such a thing. The minority of complete Idon'tknowwhattocalltheminaPGenvironment people, made it impossible for us to have free interactions. I've seen the same thing on the less restrained forums. DH, for example, was overrun by white racists, when I first saw it. There were only a dozen or so, but they managed to infest almost every thread in the place. Until I learned that I could selectively block the worst of them, I found it impossible to say much there at all. Another forum I was in for a while, allowed any profanity at all, and only restricted a few subject areas. At first it was fine, but eventually it devolved to the point where there were perhaps a dozen people who were in a single clique, and they indulged in profane insult fests for anyone who failed to praise their every post. So much for that one. Now that Match owns POF and DH, they are all dying the exact same way. Too bad. I very much like that one is not allowed to make ad hominem attacks against other members here. I wish it were not permitted in general, but that's as may be. I don't mind "colorful" forms of expression, per se. And I favor fairly open subject matter, though I have my limits there as well. Just not as tight a limit as some here seem to have. |

You get use to posting with all the familiar faces .. it is hard to go cold turkey ....laughing with everyone for so long makes it hard to not do it anymore .
just have to tell yourself life goes on and moves on .... just find other ways to mix with people ... DH did become apart of our lives it's strange but true. ️ |

The rules used to annoy me too, then I got to appreciate them for the simple reason it makes people far more resourceful if they want to say something. And isn't being resourceful to get the message across much like flirting in real life? Almost a forgotten art as in society it's gotten so normal to be blunt.
BUt suggestion and innuendo hold far more appeal than the blunt, direct approach, whether online or in real life. You can see that mirrored on a site like this too: the ones who are so blunt usually get a ton of interest for a very short while, then it dies down. It gets boring real fast. If you want to hold someone's attention you need a bit more substance than sexual bluntness. What I do not like about the rules is that they don't allow certain art, because it means I cannot share some my latest range of paintings. Or Tarot cards. In a way I get it, as I suppose there's also art that IS porn, but still. Mingle is pretty cool :) To be honest, the one reason I'm still here is because there is little sexual bluntness. Isn't that amazing for a Dutch girl to say But I'm not always in the mood for that, and if I am, there's other places to go. |
