Topic: Slow site? | |
---|---|
I'm wondering why the site is so incredibly slow?
Yesterday it was offline twice for maintenance -at least that's what it said- but it wasn't for very long. Once I refreshed and it worked, even though I'd gotten the 'maintenance - site down' message 1 second before. But in spite of any maintenance, the site is ridiculously slow, as in worse than in the days of dial-up connection, and it's not me, I got a very fast connection. Don't have problems with any other site. So I'm wondering what's going on? The pleasure of reading and posting is going down the drain this way |

I'm having the same issues Crystal. And I have a really hard time accessing my inbox for messages. A couple others have said they are having problems too.
When I'm using the mobile site on my phone, I sometimes get in, but with my laptop using WiFi, it always crashes and says Mingles under maintenance. If I stay out of my inbox, I am able to use the forums, but it's still slow. I'm also getting spam ad's in my inbox that keep reappearing after I delete them. They just bounce right back. It acts like a major virus or trojan horse that has infected one's computer. Maybe Mingle is having that issue. I don't know, guess only they can tell us. |

Me too, says site maintenance but if you refresh back it goes.
It's ok if I use the mobile site, I'm on my tablet so wonder how it is on the laptop /desktop? |

Same here, all other sites are fine and quick, but Mingle takes forever to flick a page.
I suppose we shouldn’t moan about something free, but it puts me off logging on. |

Affirmative. My copy/pasting takes now some more time xDDD At least I can play full CS match between the mail checkings.

Hopefully someone can shed some light on it and inform us whether it'll be sorted soon!

For me, this site has been close to dial-up slow for over a year. None of the other sites I visit are this slow. To me, it acts like either the server(s) is/are just old and slow. Or, to many requests for service. (DNS)attack.

I sometimes wonder what the ridiculous amount of non-active members have to do with it? Probably doesn't eat up much space etc. etc. but still, server space might be crammed? Guestimating that some 50% of 'members' could be deleted cos they haven't been on here in yonks.

Would spam mail in our private messages work the same as getting spam mail in our personal emails? Some have virus attached to them and are released when we open them. I'm wondering with all the ad's that are showing up in our inboxes here if that might be the problem?

It is pretty weird, like you said it's like an active blog... or something. That's what made me wonder if that's the problem they are having lately with the site. Someone posted a thread a little bit ago about the same problem... apparently a few are getting them. |

I was wondering if it was something to do with google cookies when we post links in the forum . I haven't tried resetting google restrictions yet but will give that a go . There is a setting about advertisements . Let you know if it helps . Good point, I didn't thing of that. Yes, please let me know. Thanks! |

For me, this site has been close to dial-up slow for over a year. None of the other sites I visit are this slow. To me, it acts like either the server(s) is/are just old and slow. Or, to many requests for service. (DNS)attack. Meant to say DOS attack. They do have a lot of old dead profiles on here. But, they seem to have more dead scammer profiles than anything. Many of the scammer profiles that are made here never get caught. They are on here maybe one or two days and then they abandon the profile. I don't know how much room that takes up on a server. Or if it hurts the performance of the server. But, With as many as I see, it's got to be a good bit of room at least. I've been running NoScript for a good while. I also run ad-block. There for a while, I had to turn off Ad-block before the Mingle page would load. When I did, No Script would start blocking. I don't know for sure, But I think it was detecting something in the advertisements. Either way, something wasn't right on the page. For right now it seems that Mingle has sped back up. |

Hi,
We apologize. I forward this issue to the i.t's and their checking it right now. Keith |
