“Step by Step”

You must take a step forward.
So you can see the reward.
That lies ahead.
It is something we all dread.
That first time we pick up the pieces.
And our blood increases.
The rush we get.
We will never forget.
The smile it brings.
Just to find out the things.
About another that makes us see.
We no longer must plea.
And things all fall into place.
Each time we see there face.
As they turn to leave.
We can not believe.
We already miss them.
For now we have found that gem.
That makes us shine within.
And now it seems that life can begin.
For we learned at first we must crawl.
And for now we have someone there if we fall.
