Hey I just wanted to see if anyone on here supports the fairtax and if you didnt know about it give you the chance to find out about it. It's the great system to get rid of the IRS and no more income tax. If you wanted more info on it Fairtax.org is the place to look!!

My brain is having a problem with just the word "fairtax".

Well I understand that it is as fair as they can get with the tax system you still have to pay taxes no matter what but now you can make all the money you want and not have to pay money on that only pay taxes when you buy something. Your paying about 35% tax with your income and then the prices of goods includes the taxs the companys have to pay. You will end up paying about the same for goods that you do now because of the compation will be more to drive the price down and the dollor will be worth more. We will get our bussiness back in the USA so we dont have to worry about lead in the toys we buy for our children!!!!!

Lets be serious. If you know anything about politics, and how the country is ran, taxes are paid by all americans. Think about the word fairtax, we all pay. If money is THAT important to someone, earn more and forget about it, (Federal income taxes will always be there)

I dont like that the Illegals pay nothing and our Gov. hands them anything they want. under the fair tax they will pay too.

OK, Let's be SERIOUS.

A sales tax or user tax, has been talked about for years. It is the FAIREST TAX system poss. You would only pay taxes when you SPEND your money. No EXEMPTIONS. Say poverty level is $10,000; Jan 1 you file papers proving you made $10,000 or under; EVERY penny you paid in sales tax, would be returned to you. Thus the poor & needy never pay the tax.
With no exemptions rich, middle class, business, ALL pay the their FAIR share of taxes.
THe rich, attorneys & accountants do not want this, they all MAKE money off exemptions. I owned a business & worked the exemptions for all I could. Paid an accountant big dollars to help me avoid taxes. PERFECT example.
Don't want to pay taxes; don't spend your money, SAVE IT.
Best thing for an economy, people saving money, forces interest rates down, lenders want the business.
20+ yrs ago, Paul Harvey stated figures, showing natl debt wiped out in 3 yrs.
Poss Perot, running for president, had figures natl. debt wiped out in 6 yrs.
Figures show more money than the present tax system brings in & I.R.S. just becomes Sales Tax Collection Dept.; no jobs lost, better cash flow for the govt. Has looked like a win/win situation to me for over 20 yrs.

Politicians don't want it, because the people that put them in office are the folks with money.
Wonder why so few get behind this? Never properly explained.

There is a "BLACK MARKET ECONOMY" in this country.
People working for cash, illegals not paying taxes, etc.
ALL this stops with a SALES TAX. EVERYONE buying ANYTHING will
PAY THE SAME TAX.

Then tell me how it is bad. NO OTHER taxes.

lol hate to say it but putting the tax burden on purchaces as aposed to income is a "rich man idea" this is due to the fact that they spends a lower PERCENT of thier income on LIVEING and anything they spend on becomeing richer(investment) will continue to be right offable so a person who earns only 20k a year and has to spend it all still has to pay tax on it all but a person who makes a million and only spend 20k only has to pay taxes on the 20k and quite frankly those who make more should pay more. and the real solution is the major companies in the wrld need to actualy start paying taxes insed of defering and writeing off till they poay notheing. nother helpful solution might be to make an inheratace tax of about 90% and starting a regiem of u get to live what u work for insted of what u were born for. :)

Please go study you cant write anything off!! Yes you pay tax and the rich has more to spend but you buy 10,000 to 20,000 dollor cars and they buy 30,000 to 300,000 dollors cars so they pay more because the spend more

the devel is in the percent the rich save and invest a larger percent to make themselves richer this is not taxable under your system. and if i spend 30 k on a car as an average person its usaulay 25% of income over swveral year but if a guy who make 3mil a year spends 300k on a car its a drop in the bucket. and so the tax AFFECTS him less all you realy need to see to prove ma point is the fact that its part of a major republican agenda to know its not gona be good for the lower half.

I like your way of thinking, I'm behind that. Though I'd tweak it just a bit. Too bad it couldn't be a progressive type of sales tax. The more luxurious an item, the higher the percentage sales tax. That way lower income people could get the basic model, minimal tax...ie: $15,000 car at 2% tax...while the "rich" could pay say 20% on their $200,000 toy to drive around and show off in. Complicated system to put in place though.

Smart guy spends 300k on a car, writes it off & gets a tax break, under present system. Been there, done that.
If you buy stock, you pay tax on the investment PURCHASE.

Keep it simple, EVERY purchase has tax on it.

Buy a $3,000 unbrella holder, as one rich guy did.
Wrote it off as a business purchase, no tax paid
Would pay sales tax under USER tax system.
