Topic: Eyes and hands | |
---|---|
I just want to share this homily for today. The priest said husbands and wives should be like a persons hand eyes to each other. The hands get hurt and the eyes see it thus it cries knowing how it feels and the hands reaches up to the eyes to wipe the tears away. They are and will always be there for each other because they are part of one person. So a married couple and couples in love who truly believe they are one are most likely this way. Kudos to them. May they always feel as one

sounds like a much nicer way of describing two working together than “joined at the hip”. I’ve never cared for that analogy.

the hands reaches up to the eyes to wipe the tears away
You really shouldn't rub or wipe your eyes. I mean tears are there to push stuff out of the eyes so you don't use your hands. The hands have more germs than any other part of the body. You could be passing on bacteria. Get pink eye. Screw up your cornea by rubbing too hard, or pushing dirt or dust around. It breaks blood vessels. It's better in general to keep your hands away from your eyeballs. People generally can't because: - They're too worried about public opinion and don't want others to see them cry or appear vulnerable. - Sight is too important a sense to miss, so anything interfering with it needs to be removed asap. - Personality has a desperate need for control as a means of feeling safe and secure. Wiping away tears is a way to pretend they have control over what the eye does. homily for today. The priest said husbands and wives should be like a persons hand eyes to each other.
Based on the homily, then spousal abuse is reinforcement of god's principles. The hand hits the eye and hurts itself in the process, then wipes away tears, that's evidence it's fulfilling the desired cycle. Yay religion. |
