The ones I have met have either been interesting to talk to but wanted me to blindly jump into a serious relationship, or else only talk in meaningless formalities like “how are you?” Were the connections you had for a year willing to talk open and honestly? The women I have made friends with in real life I become solid friends with, but never talk about anything interesting for fear of disturbing their peace, and losing them as a friend. I don’t know what she does NOT want to talk about, I don’t know what she DOES want to talk about, So I cannot think of anything interesting to talk about. So we sort of stay friends but never talk again. Better to end that way than to not end well and me be less happy than I was before I was friends with her.
