We're expecting freezing rain and frigid temps in this area this weekend. Last night...this morning I rescued a stray in our neighborhood that other folks around here shooed away. I couldn't keep him, but he is at the Humane Society where in my area they make every effort to find good homes for them, and tonight and this weekend he has a warm place to be and food and water.

Folks...I've heard many say, they're just animals, they have fur, they'll survive. The fact is their fur, like our winter coats, can only do so much to protect them from the elements, and then there's the matter of food and water....They look to us humans, who are supposed to be smarter, to look out for them, provide for them, care and love them, they DEPEND on us. Please, during inclement weather, bring your pets in. If you see a stray, make sure they get some place warm and safe, have the basic of needs. They are not human, but they are living, breathing.....loving creatures. They deserve the best from us.

Yes Robin, i agree wholeheartedly, If you can't care for the strays, the least you can do is get them to a shelter. It doesn't get that frigid here, but animals do need food. I think the humane thing to do is take a few minutes to help.

Bless your heart! I'd have to say that sometimes I love animals more than people. And, someday I will get another dog.

I took 2 kittens to the humane society a few weeks ago too. They where on the side of the road. Both babies cold, hungry, and all bones. Poor things I would have keep them if I didnt have 4 cats already.

There is a special place in - uh, Hades - for people who dump puppies and kittens....

I dont know how people can leave their animals outside in the cold its just cruel.

Agreed!!! People who do that just pizz me off!! It's just as easy to take them to, or call the Humane Society to pick them up. In these times they make effort to find them good homes....euthanasia is the very last resort.

I live in the country, on a dirt road...it's not uncommon for animals to just "show up" most are put out....I've found homes for most all of them. Some wouldn't come to me..cats are like that...but dogs.....no problem. The last was a little puppy, a Jack Russell terrier...I let a little girl talk me out of that one! hey....kids eyes can do that yanno?

I have alway's been a sucker for stray animals...I have a poodle that I rescued from a Lowe's parkin lot about 5 yrs. ago..guess somebody dumped her off there. When I found her, it was pouring rain, and she was out there runnin' around so scared..almost getting hit by cars Other people just looked, and walked away...I cant do that..after all, they are people too..
