She wanted to rent it out because of extra costs that weren't anticipated and I am only able and willing to honor the original agreement, while I am away. I agreed with the condition that it only be short term. Six months to no more than a year. That way if I stay an extra four months in Colorado, things here will be taken care of. If I decide to take my old job back, I can stay in employee housing until the rental agreement expires.

So it was a plan that makes sense and everyone wins. And probably the first time we actually negotiated terms instead of her running the whole show. Pretty cool. Chances are I won't be returning there, but since it's my home, I should have a say in it.
