The first cast iron bridge built in 1780 is about to have a refurb here. mansard roof that's the word I was looking for. The style of txs shed roof! the iron bridge? i was just reading about that. very interesting. |

Snow! Oh cool! I mean cold, lol.
Had to leave a message, won't know until she calls back. |

huh mikey i've never heard it called that. always gambrel like i said early. but it's a cool design cuz it shortens rafter length on big structures. not sure if it is any stronger tho

huh mikey i've never heard it called that. always gambrel like i said early. but it's a cool design cuz it shortens rafter length on big structures. not sure if it is any stronger tho It also gives more internal space |

yeppers. we could stuff a ton more hay in ours than the neighbor with a single pitch roof on the same foot ptint
Yes I I think that was the idea.
Have you seen our tudor houses, usually black oak beams, white plaster, the first floor over hangs. That was to reduce the footprint, then less tax |
yep we did kind of the same with split entries usually just a couple feet on any wall on upper floor as compared to foundation and lower floor
Yes that's it. Did you have a thing called window tax. ? Not sure what era it was, it was a tax basically on light! So, many victorian houses bricked up many of the windows, we still build some now with fake bricked up windows

no but here in nh we get a water front tax and or a scenic view tax
tho on our split entries i'm not sure if it was tax driven or to cheapen up the cement costs and digging for the foundation. we get a lot of ledge around here |
Well probably our rates, basically a ground tax for aminities would be more expensive on the riverside |

yeppers 2 years after mom and dad built the house up north a developer stripped the property behind them for a development and cuz on the very back of their wooded property they suddenly had a mountain view they got whacked with the view tax. doubled their tax bill
They don't have State income tax in Florida, but they sure sock it to you with property taxes. That's one of the reasons a lot in the South don't fix up their homes.

same here p and we also don't have a sales tax so it is almost all generated from property taxes
infact the new bill is on the desk now for the house. $21.61 per 1000 |
That's how it is down here. Ours is on the low end, which is still high, but if we were to have waterfront, or renovate, then it would double or triple.
