electricity is at the root of the main problem, as it is with and area hit with a natural disaster.

No electricity... no.. anything.

What PR had before the hurricane was a sub par.. very sub par electrical grid which was " patched" to many remote areas.

The entire grid is all but lost.

That can not be fixed in a week.. or a month. It will take a long time and does not fall into FEMA's scope.

They never paid their electric bills anyway.ohwell

And they stole cable.. Lol.. I know .. I know.. this one will get pulled..I don't care Lol

You are in the money. It will take weeks maybe months to tebuild. America the difference between us in the states faced a disaster and P.R. is we still have access to clean water. We can have FEMA rescues in a small amount of time. We can still donate
Right now Puerto Rico cant. Keep an open mind to this.

Ms. Harmony

Hey momie i see it like this ....Puerto Rico faced a devastation with time we all faced sometime in our weather days. Plus not to mention it is part of america now. America we cant ignore what happen. We can blame really anyone. But what we can do is treat this like if this is in our state. Help rebuild once we get it back up and up the we can focus on who's accountable.

you can't blame trump for what happen in Puerto Rico

Nice to see another fellow airman agree. You can't blame this on trump. If you do, you are a moron to believe that the president is the blame for the on-time distribution on clean water

It's a logistics issue, especially getting all the equipment to the island since mostly everything is destroyed. The military (as I seen in Travis where I'm at right now) is doing everything we can to push all the support we can to get everything in that area.

If you want some one to blame, blame the mayor and the unionize workers. Military support operations come to a complete halt when you got some one like that finding to to point the blame at others than just getting it done. We already see in maintenance how something can get political can hold a job for hours when it takes 20 min to complete. We don't need politics here, just let us do the dam job

Paul Ryan "toured" PR yesterday by helicopter.
Whenever there's some sort of natural disaster dozens of pols immediately fly over the area. WTF good does some bureaucrat do by flying over a flood or fire damaged area?

Maybe read what Geraldo Rivera said after he visited Puerto Rico..... Seems even he says the news that is out is Fake..

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2017/10/01/defending-trump-geraldo-rivera-debates-the-meaning-of-dying-with-san-juans-mayor/?utm_term=.103ad5f8e6fa

They have not been left without supplies it was due to roads blocked that had to be cleared which Military ect was sent to help them out asap but that seems to be forgotten...

Trump has actually visited with each state that has had disasters and met with the people.. Can't say that for many of the past Presidents..noway

Not sure how much help that others think the President should do beyond checking on the areas and the people as well as getting them the help that is being provided.. Changing laws are not just a swipe of the pen they do have steps to take and took them as soon as they could..

Puerto Rico, an island in the Caribbean Sea, has been a territory of the United States since 1898, after the U.S. defeated Spain in the Spanish-American war. It's classified as an "unincorporated territory," meaning the island is controlled by the U.S. government but is separate from the mainland.

Puerto Ricans by birth have American citizenship and can move freely between the island and the U.S. mainland. But unlike Hawaii, Puerto Rico is not a state. That means it does not have voting power in Congress and its citizens can't vote for the U.S. president — but they can vote in party primaries.

Puerto Rico is self-governed through a local constitution that was approved by Congress in 1952. Residents can elect their own Governor, Assembly and Senate.

It is interesting how a weather disaster can turn into a political issue. Idealism, left, right, reality, let's try to spend few days with no water, no food, no way to get to it. Let's go even deeper, no insulin, no way to get dialysis, run out of cancer meds. Let's experience a death of a family member or a parent because the treatment that they get is impossible to obtain. Let's experience such events. Is easier to bicker, point fingers, stereotype a group of people, argue with political views, waste time on jungle juice.

On the other side, why the bureaucrats fly over the disaster area, because they do not have the guts to be on ground zero.

Not directed to anyone here, just my two cents.

TxsGal3333,

Hi, welcome back , well you made a valid point about the roads being blocked off. As a result the flood grew . but lets not think arrogant about this issue. Bottom line is people was affected by this disaster but I like and want you to voice more for those who don't have all the coverage that the news don't give us...
