Where do you get the idea that there is any misunderstanding?

If Jesus was God, and God uses parables to teach concepts to the masses, then the entire Old Testament should be considered to be entirely made of parables.

Where’s the misunderstanding?

That was precisely my point.

You obviously read but do not comprehend. ohwell

That is the misunderstanding.....God did not speak in parables.....Jesus did.....And if you would of read what I wrote he did so to teach the ones who would not listen.....For example....

The parable of the the soils

"Behold, the sower went out to sow; and as he soed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up. "And others fell upon the rocky places, where they did not have mush soil; and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil. "But when the sun had risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they whithered away. "And others fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them out.

Take this parable and tell me what it mean to you abra?

God did not speak in parables.....Jesus did.....

So you’re saying that Jesus wasn’t God then?

Take this parable and tell me what it mean to you abra?

What does my interpretation of this parable have to do with the topic of discussion?

Isn’t this taken out of context from a larger sermon?

I’ll take a stab at it anyway,..

Behold, the sower went out to sow;

An enlightened man sought to enlightenment the masses.

and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up.

Most people had no clue what he was talking about.

And others fell upon the rocky places, where they did not have much soil; and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil. But when the sun had risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they whithered away.

Some people saw the wisdom in what he taught but it was short-lived as they quickly went back to their previous ways.

And others fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them out.

Some people took what the enlightened man taught and tried to teach it to others, but they misunderstood and taught it all wrong and no one benefited from this.

And you left out the best part of all! flowerforyou

But others fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

Some people actually understood what the enlightened man was saying. They lived their lives accordingly, and their love and understanding was passed onto others via their actions. Some more than others depending on how sociable they were.

I love this quote...

So.....love.....this.....quote.....

"Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.

J.C. has said some awesome words, which still can't seem to hear after 2000 years.

I don't know why, but I'm sure Jesus would have loved 'Wagner'!!!

If we could just leave the 'word for word', and medidate on this parable for he rest of our lives,
... in silence...

It's our only chance!!!

P.S.: God did not, and does not speak in parables, quite right there Feral. THAT'S BECAUSE GOD DOESN'T SPEAK!!! Man just hears a voice they attribute to God.

... And that's all folks!!!

And since man makes mistakes and is not perfect and never will be...

I DO believe in GOD and JESUS but do NOT believe in man.
So to me the Bible is an interpretation of what God said to man and of what mankind saw and experienced while our Lord walked upon this earth.

This is the kind of attitude that turns me off to the religion in general. A religion that causes people to be negative toward their own humanity can't be healthy. ohwell

negitave toward our own humanity...

For what reason should I be positive? Murderers... Rapists... Child Molesters... all of them from our Communities, Neighborhoods, Families even. (Don't forget the church.)

But, "Religion" didn't make me that way. "Humanity" did.

So you don't see any good in humanity?

A few bad apples don't spoil the whole bunch.

According to statistic less than 1% of the population on earth is involved in violent crimes. That means that the other 99% of the people are pretty cool.

Compare that with heaven where 33% of the angels fell to evil.

This is not good! This makes living on earth more inviting than living in heaven.

No. I'm Human. I make mistakes.

The One and only imperfect creature GOD made was man. And trusted us ALL with this Earth... See what we have done with it?

Trust myself? Hell No! I trust HIM though. He knows what he is doing even though I don't.

It actually seems like every other quote she uses is directly referring to her own actions but she can't see it at all. It is amazing

kai i believe in humanity..i see good everyday, good doesnt get the press.look around ,you'll see it too :)

I think the Bible is a good place to learn life lessons though I dont believe God is that judgemental.i mean he made us this way and he said we could never be as great as him so what standard does he judge us by?

I NEVER said I think ALL of humanity is bad. But, humans don't run around with "Good" or "Bad" signs... and even "Good" people can do "Bad" things.

Again WE ARE HUMAN!

As I have stated in previous posts...

Bible to me is the infallible, inspired, inherent Word of the Living God. I believe each and every word from Genesis to Revelation, cover to cover. It is the owners manual for human being-a must read. And one of my jobs as a Christian is to "Be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks me a reason of the hope that is in us with meakness and fear."

You never say which Bible you use Feral. So since you have this powerful book tell us all, is it the King James, The Good News, which Bible are you calling the exact word for word word of God?

kai67's photo
Thu 11/29/07 08:33 PM
The topic was...
How do you define the Bible?

and again I'll say I define the bible was man's INTERPRETATION of GOD'S words and Jesus's time with us...

and since man makes mistakes I can not believe Everything word for word that is written.

and...
Distracted is an understatement bigsmile
