walking down the street sidewalk you find a wallet when you pick it up, you find it has a substantial amount of cash in it. details Identity aren't in it Wowwww surprise

1 wait until the owner comes back and you hand it over?

2 you look left and right let's just say nobody is coming forget who it belongs to. accept it as a lost gift from the universe?

3 you rather not pick it up as a pride issue and move on?

Pick it up, take to nearest police precinct and turn it in. What becomes of it then is no concern of mine.

None of your choices is valid to me..lol

but there is no identity in it so how would you think the police going to discover who is it belongs to don't you think security would look for an ID and then contact the ownerlaugh

Yes. But the police "could " post a lost and found notice or something. If not claimed then maybe they'd give it to me, I'd then in turn find someone who needs it more than I do.

This is the only possible answer for an honest and honorable person. There have been many instances where exactly this has happened, and when it was a person with a sense of personal honor and integrity found the money, it was returned to the person who lost it.

It would be my hope it was returned to the person that lost it. It could be their grocery money, rent, money to bury a loved one, the list goes on...

non of the above answers justify any logical mean im not saying you do anythin illegal, but imagine this scenario

you return the wallet to a police office they take your name and ok fine information the owner gets their wallet back, counts the money in it and says hey i had $150 bucks in the wallet but there isn't $150 in the wallet when you found it then the cops contact you and ask sir how much money was in the wallet when you first found it? what do you say

I'd say "You think if I'd wanted to take money I wouldn't have taken it ALL and simply chuck the wallet?"

I guess that's another option, or post one yourself and make any responses to identify the wallet and it's contents. Now I'm done discussing. ..lol

Yeah, I'm inclined to feel the same way. Only difference is someone could go to the police station hoping someone was honest enough to go there with it.
but I must admit I'm also not entirely sure what I'd do. Depends on how much 'substantial' is as well. If we're talking 10.000 or 100.000 euros, I'd certainly hand it in. And wonder what knucklehead would walk around with that amount of money in his pocket.
If it was like 150 Euros or less, dunno.
In a way I feel like, what if no one comes to claim it? And how can they proof it IS actually theirs? Then some copper is going to take it home and have a real good time? That's the bit that trips me up a tad, lol.
But I think I would end up turning it in anyways. I don't think I could live with myself if I didn't.
