No one should be in control over the other. cos we are not animals we need not be controlled. what is really needed in relationship to last and moving is trust and understanding, when one is in total control of the relationship, it is heading for the rocks because the person in control will likely assume the position of a dictator

who is in control

I have heard it said that, in a relationship,
the one who loves the least has the most control.

The person who loves the most is most likely to try harder
and give way.

The one who loves less can afford to be more demanding.
Hence, greater control.

Good here :-)

That almost sounds like a type of emotional blackmail.. let us hope that in a healthy relationship, each partner has a bit of control from time to time.
But, the old saying, happy wife, happy life jumps to mind.
Have a great day.

Well really, in practical terms, both people are in control all the time, unless one is literally being held captive.

Possessive and manipulative people are only in control if you decide to go along with what they want.

A relationship is expected to be strong and lasting where there is mutual understanding by both parties. For a person to have control in a relationship over the his/her partner makes that person a dictator or a tyrant.
