Topic: Age before Beauty. | |

You know we all have come to this point in our lives where the world and our surrounding community tends to redefine us. As older Americans we are placed in categories that are not our choosing. We are generally given limited roles without consideration for our uniqueness. In fact we are considered old and expendable. This rite de passage has a tendency to affect our self esteem and force us to accept limited roles and expectations of ourselves. some have fears regarding reaching out and enjoying themselves. But most just find faults within themselves. So my question is what do you believe is keeping you from obtaining and enjoying the happiness you deserve?

The path less traveled, is sometimes less traveled for a reason. |

I've never seen anything in life to even remotely suggest that I DESERVE anything.
And I don't know that I really think we are any MORE categorized as older folks, than we were when we were younger. I've experienced being categorized as a normal part of life, since as far back as I can remember, which is a very long way. Maybe what you are dealing with isn't THAT you feel labeled and categorized, so much as being unhappy with whatever the label is. I know that a lot of the bigger transitions of life that I've been through, were upsetting mainly because I had only JUST started to feel as though I knew how to be a X kind of person, when suddenly I realize I'd become an official Y kind. I used to joke that I had barely figured out how to be seventeen, and it took me until I was thirty two to do that. |

So my question is what do you believe is keeping you from obtaining and enjoying the happiness you deserve?
Um...? I am. Why don't you? It was really easy when I removed my expectations on others as a permission to find my own contentment. It got even easier when I stopped expecting the Universe to adhere to my plan. |

A friend said she would have to find someone... who would understand her illness ... I don't know why some have to blame ... others for their unhappiness ... your only hurting yourself ... are we not the keeper to our own happiness ... personally for me ... I do not try very hard ... to find that special love from that one person anymore... most everyone is deserving of love ... do not believe that is it ... maybe just have not found the right person for me ... |
