Ok, so first off... I am sure there has been a post like this before, but after looking through a few pages I didn't see one so... here goes...

I am 25. I am interested in a 38 year old. He has an 18 year old daughter.. although they are enstranged. What is your opinion on age differences?

The next part of this is that my step father is only 34 (my mom is 44). So, that makes me feel a bit strange about it.

I realize that maturity is an issue in this. But does it seem a bit taboo to date someone older than my stepfather? Or closer to my mother's age?

Just curious

Maybe not taboo - but it may feel a little strange for both of you for a while. My ex was much younger than me, and it bothered me much more than it did him.

id say taboo, yet very interesting, love however doesnt care about taboo or social acceptance. Neither should anyone you wants to judge you

If you both feel comfortable doing it, then you should go for it. I think its what ever you feel alright with. I think age is just a number, maturity is what counts.
Good luck flowerforyou

My ex is 12 years older than I am.
I have dated younger & older. It's no big deal.. unless you make it out to be one.

I say go for it. Do what YOU want to do.

Just wanted to know what people thought about it. I am very interested in knowing thoughts from anyone who has been in a relationship with an age gap close to this.

It's up to the lady on who she dates no one else.

Even though my ex was much younger (don't even want to say how many years!) we were together for 8 years, and 6 of them were fantastic! Even if it is weird around other people for a while, it will be OK if it is a good combination intellectually and emotionally.

Maestra.. that is how it seems so far. Obviously who knows what will happen.

The age range of the ladies I'm looking for is between 35 and 48. maybe I should lower the bar to 32 that way the ages will be 8 years either way.

I actually dated someone 13 years younger...I honestly think that was my best relationship. We were together for almost 3 years and we are still in touch. The nice thing is, just because a relationship ends...the friendship doesn't have to!! To be honest, I would date someone younger again...it seems that I get along better with the younger ones

You are the only one who knows what is right for you. What other's think really doesn't matter. It is YOUR life. Wish you the best of luck. Protect thyne heart at all times though. Relationships tend to be rather short now a days it seems. When the heart and mind work together there are no limits. Take care! Ghappy

Nice Fort.

It is hardest for me to think of myself with someone older than my step father, although I do realize that I have a little more maturity than my mother (not to sound conceited).

The other funny part is you would never guess this guy was 38.... he looks 32 tops. Oh well, I appreciate the input and any future input.

Makes for good conversation too

Heck, I have my range from 25 - 45. I don't know who I may click with. Strange things happen in life. I admire the zest of youth. Not to say I would date someone that young, but I can sure chat with them and get to know them. Never know what the futrue holds in store.
