I hate the holiday season. It just makes me sad that I don't have a special someone to spend it with. The time change makes everything even worse. I get soooooo depressed. sad

If you weren't in NJ, I'd spend time wit'cha!

I actually like Christmas music, I try to take it for the pretty tunes and sounds and enjoy it for what it is.

The holidays suck though, I will likely be alone again, haven't seen my grandbabies since January, and used to see them daily, babysat them almost every day, etc., and miss them fiercely. Money is beyond tight, taking care of dad has run me into the ground financially, the house needs major repairs done, etc. Christmas is so commercial, it is for the kids anyways, as far as I am concerned. I try to make what I can, this year the grandbabies will get presents, that is about it.

I always get depressed around the holidays as it is a reminder of the death of my grandpa, he died on New Years Day, in 1984, and it was a long time ago, but he was the one person in my life who cared about me when I was growing up and he gave me a reason to grow up. He had a beautiful heart, and I tried very hard to be like him, not my mom who was cold and hateful. In fact, my mom died on January 2, 2006, but it is my grandpa who I miss the most and always will.

That's right. Memories are what can help us get through, anything, too.

Why would you hate Christmas music? I love it, no matter how rough life seems. Guess it doesn't soothe everyone, of course.

Yea the holidays haven't been the same since my parents died. Everyone now lives in other states -- really sucks. Wish I could just go to sleep until January 2. I know that's a bad outlook, but it's an honest one.

Yeah, it stinks being alone for the Holidays. Going alone to your company Christmas party because you don't have anyone to take. Not being asked to go with friends to a New Years Party, because it's "couples only" and they know you're alone...it's like rubbing your nose in it. And the media and commercials make it worse--it's ALL so couples oriented. It's like if you're alone for the holidays, you're lower than pond scum.

Everybody talks about discrimination in this country. This race, that race, ect.

Well, I'm here to tell you that the MOST discrinated against group in America, BY FAR, is SINGLE PEOPLE!

Everything is geared towards the couple in America. A lot of time shares won't rent to single people. Restaurants try to sit single prople at the tiniest tables they have (Heaven help you if you bring a newspaper to read). Single people passed over for jobs and promotions in favor of married people because, "They need it more".

And why? Because IT'S OUR FAULT!! WE LET THEM GET AWAY WITH IT!

WELL, NOT ME!!!!

When I go to a restaurant with my newspaper, and they try to sit me at one of those tiny tables, I refuse. I tell them they can either sit me at a normal table, or I'll take my business (and my consumer dollars) elsewhere! I've actually hired attorneys to fight the "married only" rules at time-shares, and made them back down. Someone get the promotion simply because they're married? Well, comanies have Human Resources depts for a reason, and companies don't usually handle discrimination lawsuits very well.

My point is folks, we MUST stand up to the discrimination practiced against single people in America. SINGLES UNITE!!!!!

Final note: For those of us who ARE going to be alone this Christmas/New Years (I'll be alone, too), isn't it better to be alone than with someone you don't really want to be with?

Hip Hip Hooray LEX!!...I'm right there with ya!!...yepper, It is MUCH better being alone rather spend with someone who makes me want to reach for a barf bag!!...grumble

I just get frustrated because I have time off and instead of hanging around the house while the family stares at the t.v., reads, and makes a HUGE mess for me to clean up, I'd rather go someplace and stay at a hotel and swim and have a good time. Course then there would be guilt cause I'm supposed to be home, blah blah blah. Nobody ever wants to go anywhere and I hate just hanging around!

Love the holidays, but this year has sucked, to say the least. So, I try and think about positive things that have happened and hope for a better year next year.

This will be my first holiday totally alone in my whole life and I like it that way so far. I don't have to watch tv, which I don't anyway, just because someone else wants the tv on. So I don't have to hear the stupid music, and see the diamond rings I know no one will ever buy me(not that I need them) or see all the effing commercialized bull.

I don't have to go to the stores and listen to that damned music. I can shop online if I want something, or make something. I have iTunes if I want music and I can choose what I want to listen to.

I don't have to get up early to unwrap presents at the crack of dawn. I don't have to buy a stupid tree that sheds needles all over my house that I find hiding in dark places everytime I clean up, which reminds me of x mas.....bah humbug!
