It can get a little odd when you don't have any family --

But I have learned to see the holidays as "just another day" -- really not a big deal as long as I keep myself occupied....

Its sad because people make such a big damn deal about it. Like you are nothing if you don't go with your family and eat turkey, than everyone feels bad for you.

I love the holidays. They are just a little bit harder to take since my Grandma is not here anymore. I miss her. But my kids make it all worth while.

They haven't hit me yet but I know there coming!

I used to LOVE the holidays and then when I moved to AZ and had no family here at first I hated them. I've learned though that if I just let everyone do their thing and I do mine whether its partake in parties and things I'm invited to, or keep to myself, I dont hate them anymore. If you're without family wherever you are then find things to do... go see a funny movie or just get into a hobby you have at home. The ones that I feel the worst for are the little kids that "Santa forgets where they live". That makes me just want to do something for them... which is the whole point of the holidays.... people caring for each other.

i hate the holidays because i feel bad i can't give my son all he wants...kinda stinks when your barely making ends meet..

this is a bittersweet holiday season for me....on one hand, it will the second christmas i've spent with my brother and daughter since my daughter was born (she was 6 weeks old the first one)........on the other hand, this is my first christmas away from my mother in a few years and also the first christmas w/o my ex, and my grandfather who i was extremely close died this time of the year back in 2001.....yeah, it sucks to be me right now

This my first official holliday season alone.My ex haunted my parents Thanksgiving. To avoid a scene they held dinner untill today. Had my brother there just incase. So Christmas will not be held as far as I am concerned.Dropping the money saved for gifts into different charrities in their names and F it!

thank you .my daughter is married and i feel bad i cant help her out also.I will be better as the season progresses.I work on an Altzheimers unit and when I see how much they have lost,I start to appreciate what I do have which is a lot.i have great parents,good kids and my health.i feel better already.

I use to really anticapate after thanksgiving cause that was when my dad and I would put up lights for christmas and every year we would try to out do the last years set up and we had alot it was sooo fun, but I haven't done that since he died in 2003 I have tried but it just isn't the same
