Why people rely on dating site to find something that they can't find in social life??

Could be many reasons. They might not be comfortable socially in real life, could be fake or cheating, could be anything. It is their reasons. I don't use online to date. I am the opposite and meet IRL

It's probably due to real life shyness, awkwardness, or lack of a local dating pool if they live in a rural area. I cannot emphasize enough how strongly I feel about the link between internet and the death of social skills.

I don't know... maybe because they have availability to millions of people on the web as opposed to the few in their town...maybe?

you make a profile that can be seen by many more then you can see in real life ... i don't often bump in to people that live close to me in another town , or for some over sea's etc etc etc

its up 24 / 7 unlike us weak humans that need stuff like sleep , food , etc etc etc

unlike real life you can tell they are single (or at least that the % is better cause they say it here)

Why is that sad? I didn't use it as an additional venue, I used it as my main/only venue. And it worked.
If you live in an area where ppl's mentality doesn't suit yours, internet and dating-sites are an ideal option.
Nothing sad about it, it's quite beautiful and great to have that option. My love life would've been doomed without it.

Exactly for that reason: you can't find them in social life. If you can't find them, you look elsewhere...

Some people have no social life

It provides another way to meet people and gives the opportunity of learning more about each other before you decide if you want to meet. You do need to be mindful of the risks and always meet for the first few dates during the day time in very public places.

I think bcoz of due to busy work and working long hours makes you no time for social life like me and the other way for you to mingle and communicate is through meeting someone from online date. It's fun and interesting to meet someone from different cultures and exchange thoughts and opinions. And if you're lucky it would be more exciting if you meet that person in real life Good luck and all the best for everyone!

Because it is a great way to develop a relationship with superficial acquaintance from the real world or meet even more people you have something in common with first in tame Mingleland where there are great moderators .

I have time for a relationship what I don't have time or desire to do is drag out that early dating process that is expensive and much more uncomfortable that chatting by email while I can do chores, spend time with my pet, or lets get real wear comfortable clothes.

I like meeting new and interesting people that I wouldn't have access to otherwise. I even find some of the scammers interesting

Like everything online it's convenient. Meet people while at home relaxing in your pajamas.
