Topic: why do people cheat

Maybe knowing why someone DOESN'T cheat is more important to choosing future relationships. It seems to me there would be fewer factors involved. You know, accentuate the positive, and all that. flowerforyou

2X

There are so many positive reasons not to cheat.

So many negative reasons to cheat.

flowerforyou Hi there ho there Lee! waving

I may have just inducted you into the Musketeers there. As a former member of that esteemed club, I'm fairly certain I am not vested with that authority. Sorry to disappoint. ohwell

That is a good idea; I’m going to make that a resolution.

side note: is it okay to shorten a quote like this? We are getting rather lengthy.

You asked "What is the reason?".

I think it lack of self esteem leads some to cheat.
I think psychologically they do it to fight their insecurity. Not even conscious of the deeper reason(s).
Guys I've known of such behavior think it makes them big man on campus.

It's interesting to see all the various responses about this topic and no mention of any physiological reasons . My understanding is:

1. Sex is primarily a reproductive instinct.fact

2. Men and women are very different beings physiologically and obviously, sexually, instinctively, mentally, etc.fact

2. Not all fingers are created equal.

(Majority) women have evolved to instinctively choose a mating partner with the top qualities fit for survival and stomp out any competition. This exhibits itself with traits of being clingy, jealous, protective, monogamous, gold digging etc.

4. Not all fingers are created equal.

On the other hand,
(Majority) men have evolved to instinctively spread their seeds as much as they possibly can and dominate. and when society fails to recognize scientific aspects of the male sexuality, they are forced to conform to the "norm" but still can't escape the instinctive urge to "spread" the seed which results in "cheating". Ofcourse there's the trait exhibits of , being contorlling, dominating , to a partner etc.

And... obviously... relationship problems don't help either....

The lips of wisdom are closed except to the ears of comprehension.

So....Take note ladies/gentlemen. For all that have special individuals. Be patient and realize that not all our actions are out of bad character!

Give them the benefit of science!!!

When someone is cheated on, who cares about the science? Cheating involves lying, sneaking and manipulation, regardless of reason. It is still hurting others.

The excuse doesn't matter to me

I believe in extreme vetting..It doesn't matter what excuse what twist they want to put on their indiscretions. It doesn't matter how long their spiel is..figuring their smart enough to squirm their way out..yet not smart enough to figure out ..that no one believes a word coming from their mouth

And yet just through powers of observation they could see what these indiscretions are doing to their relationship..especially when it could or does result in giving their wife or girlfriend an STD..and with all the STDs that can result in either death or serious injury to another person not to mention the emotional health

Then all I can say is psychologically if that's what reason they want to use or the overwhelming urge to procreate..than maybe if nothing else that person should be respectful or honest enough to tell the other person..unless of course that too is missing from their psyche...

In that case at least that person would have a fair chance to decide if they want to be with them..but that requires honesty, respect dignity and integrity..obviously those things are missing as well ..in that case..KICK ROCKS..that person's not for me..spock

Cheating is fun. There's that reason. Every one should cheat once in their life, just for the experience of it. Get it out of your system.

Every time I have been "caught" cheating it was the same situation , the girl got angry ( usually because I wanted a (50/50) relationship like you pay half the rent I pay half ) so she left , I find someone else , start dating , not yet having sex , and get "caught" cheating by the first girl that left , who often told me to find someone else ! then she proceeds to slander my name all over the place !

Why do so many people lack integrity?

Because they have no moral compass.

told to me by a very dedicated ladies man(dedicated to being a ladies man)

because they CAN

he added that, for men, it generally doesn't have to be anything except they feel they deserve everything they want and if no one knows noone will be 'hurt'

for women, it generally is because they feel neglected in some way

,,,not my words, but straight from the ladies man

I totally agree !

why do ladies, guys, men and women cheat in their relationship is because they lack the spirit of insincerity whice is the firs spirit we are to possess as humans to live a responsible life.

I honesty think that it's harder not to cheat than to cheat. Cheating is easy - it's harder not to cheat when there are problems in a relationship. It's easier to try & get your needs met elsewhere short term than to try and work things out with your partner.
