Well some claim it's a genetic imperative i.e. Men are driven by their Instincts to mate with as many women as possible. I think this is horseh*t myself, as there is much more to be said for Family strength socio-anthropologically speaking. Maybe they just can't control their ...lol.
I think there is way too much "programming" of young people.

Men are hunters, women are nutrurers. It is a biologically, historically genetic fact encoded into our basic human nature. It also depends on the woman, can she be everything her man wants her to be, just like a woman wants her man to be everything she needs him to be. It is a delicate intimate balance between two individual people because people change, if a man a woman can change together, they get married, have a family, live happily ever after and everything else hollywood would have you believe. In real life however, things are not as simple. Do you respect and accept the man in your life as he is, as women demand to be accepted, appreciated, and respected for who they are? It's a two way street. You can't blame one without looking for the causes in the other.

Not most men... some do and they are called cheaters. IMO once a cheater, always a cheater. Avoid them like the plague.

Well youngin, because it is the natural order of things that is why.

Homosapien sapiens are mammals. We have been around for roughly 2 million years.
If you look at nature, mammals specifically, the male mates with many females during its lifetime. Basically, anytime a female comes into heat. Any female in heat. (compatible species)
It is a matter of numbers. Millions of sperm vs a handful of eggs.

Human beings are weird compared to the rest of the natural world. Our sentience creates morals and obligations that prevent random copulation. Our laws maintain that civility.

It wasn't always like this. Up until a few thousand years ago it was normal for a man to have multiple females in the pack. Society changed our natural behavior.

Despite morals and laws and traditions, some men are driven by the natural urges inherent to mammals. Other men are driven by morals and standards of society.

The need to copulate with as many females as possible is an attempt to saturate the 'herd' with their genetic offspring. In today's world it is frowned upon so males limit themselves and often sneak.

The basic drive is always there, some men embrace it and others do not.

On the same subject it is also natural for a female to mate with multiple males. If she comes into heat she will offer herself to the bull males to assure a strong genetic heritage for her offspring. Over the course of her lifetime she may mate with many males as her perception of bull status changes.

So, its not just guys that mess around.

Personally, I am the one woman one man type of person. I have no need to fulfill my animalistic urges because I have full control over my desires. I have already reproduced my genetic code, therefore my drive is satisfied with a single female. Sex for me is sharing intimacy with someone I love, not a reproductive event. There are many men that feel the same as I.

One of the biggest delusions that people have is to think that we are not animals. That our intelligence somehow negates the fact.

Copulating is as natural as passing gas.

It is our civility and adoption to society standards that make us different from the rest of the natural world. We are unnatural because we are intelligent and social.

Our technology, science, is an understanding that we apply to ourselves that changes us from our natural state.
With science we have developed the ability to live past our prime.

In the natural world, life has a pattern. Birth, adolescence, puberty, maturity, reproduction, death. Our science has changed that pattern.

Our society has changed our reasoning as well. The advent of religion has created an unnatural state of society that proclaims that we select to mate for life. This is beneficial to the rearing of offspring and health of the population. It is a case where the unnatural is more beneficial to the species than natural.

Considering that the human being has been in this current form for around 2 million years (that's 2,000 1,000 year periods) and civilization can only be traced back to around 8,000 years, most of our species time on this planet have been in our natural state. Our current solitary mating system may just be a phase we are going thru.

Technology can change the status quo at anytime. Try to imagine if we no longer need to copulate to reproduce? Test Tube Babies are a real thing in our current world. Imagine a world where every child is a test tube baby. Will there still be a need for unions at all? Perhaps copulation will be entirely a recreational activity. Taboos might be lifted. Time will tell.

In our current society, in certain countries, solitary mating for life is not a mandate. Ever heard of a harem? In most societies it is a mandate. Currently in this society it is a mandate and it is up to the individual to maintain it. In other societies it is a mandate and is enforced by society, sometime with deadly consequences. Ever heard of stoning?

The thing about our society is that you must be very careful about who you choose to be your mate if solidarity is your intentions. Everyone is different and does things according to their nature. If you choose wisely you will find the person right for you. What makes it hard is that people know how to lie. That is why honesty is so important to a single mate unity.
