Topic: My Question For The Day | |
---|---|
I don't understand why men send a message and all it says is HELLO PRETTY..... Do they think that will make a woman melt or is because they can't think of anything else to say??? I have thought about sending a message back asking them but then I think that would be rude so I don't... lol
It is almost as bad as getting one that just says HI.. Anyway thought I'd post here to see if I could maybe get an answer to my big question....lol |

Its simply a case of your expecting too much from so many with so little. lower your standards and then realize its not possible to reach the bottom as men continue to lower the bar....

Even worse, getting a message that only says "Hey".

when you get a message that says "hey pretty" IT IS A SCAMMER
you can easily verify if the person in the pic is the person you are hearing from. have the person post a pic of them self holding a piece of paper with some word you give them, like APPLE if they cant do that, move on as it is a scammer but if you get the message saying HI PRETTY that is common scammer language |

I believe its just an immitation of real life introduction
when someone walks up to me anywhere in real life they usually only say hello initially,,,, |

I'm going to assume he's not just a scammer or phisher sending out 10,000 emails to every profile he comes across, or that shows as online. That he's not one of 100 people sitting in a shack in a 3rd world country getting paid by the number of responses he gets to his email. Assuming he's "genuine," just some local guy looking for love/dating/female interaction for genial purposes or romance, then: - many guys are using the phone app. They aren't really sending you a message, like email, so much as texting you. Typing out lengthy emails on a small screen with a touch keyboard tends to be a pain. - They are trying to start a conversation, not send you a sales pitch and purchasing contract. - The mindset between a reader and a writer is different. Readers inherently have a perspective like "ok, I have this email in my hand. I can read it or not. I can take my time, really get into it, see what it says, it's mine, it's not going anywhere. Ball is in my court, they're waiting for my response." Writers don't have that luxury. They're more of "here's a profile, maybe online and they could sign off at any moment and maybe never sign on again, they may be in the middle of talking to someone, they aren't directly asking me personally to contact them, I don't know this person, they are a stranger, I'm putting the ball in their court." - Majority of messages sent do not get a reply, or get a negative (unsuccessful/"not interested") response. Doesn't matter if someone spends a lot of time on their email, or sends a "hi." Most message attempts end in failure. People build shortcuts in handling their consistent experience. No incentive to send anything more than "hi." There are no perceived consequences to sending just "hi." What consequence do they get? "I have thought about sending a message back asking them but then I think that would be rude so I don't" No reply. In your head, on your end of the computer, completely unbeknownst to them, you (may) have refused to respond because they only said "hi pretty." On their end, they simply get "no reply." That is the same consequence as when they've sent out longer emails. Other women may have sent nothing because of the picture, or he had a cat, or she met someone, or she hasn't signed into the website for 8 months. But from the guys perspective the same thing happens the majority of the time no matter what they send. No reply. No reason to put any effort into it. Better to just send something quick to see if there will be any response at all. - A lot of people try to force online interaction into an offline equivalent they understand. What do you say when you first meet someone in real life? Something like "Hi." |

Its simply a case of your expecting too much from so many with so little. lower your standards and then realize its not possible to reach the bottom as men continue to lower the bar.... I've been on the dating site for some time now, so I'm not expecting anything... at first I did but that changed along the way dealing with all of the scammers... I don't think I have to lower my standards to get a date... that would be changing who I am and I'm gods with me.... All I was asking was a simple question.... Good luck to you and I hope you have a good evening... |

No I usually respond to most people that send me a message unless I know that I'm 100% for sure not interested at all... the ones that have nothing on their profile,I'll send them a message asking why they have nothing about themselves... sometimes they will fill it out and send me another message telling me to check it out..... But to be honest most of the men I have talked to have just been scammers.... I have met about 6 or 7 for drinks and I have made some friends but no love connection as of yet..... I'll just keep looking though...lol |

Better yet, once a week (or so) I get a woman who views my profile and then deactivates her profile. Had one a few hours ago.

Anyway thought I'd post here to see if I could maybe get an answer to my big question....lol Lots of people probably want to break the ice and as others have said, use a greeting they commonly use in the hope of receiving a reply. If their profile has some details and a few photos maybe they believe that is enough for you to decide whether to reply or not. I prefer to say more than Hello, but I don't say very much in my profile, because in my opinion people want to see photos of yourself first, and they will only respond if they like what they see. |

It's a new day. Do we get a new question?
|
|
|
|
Technically the OP starts the new day considering she asked her question in the afternoon of yesterday. So it hasn't been 24 hours yet.
I think I know why I quit sending messages.....I got tired of no reply. Exceptions to those in the forums. I do of course say more than "Hi Pretty" or "Hi". I try to find something in a woman's profile that gives a commonality and try to go on that. Unfortunately though, many do not have information to go on and make it quite hard to come up with a message that may perk her interest. |

Better yet, once a week (or so) I get a woman who views my profile and then deactivates her profile. Had one a few hours ago. I haven't been on this site for along time. but I wouldn't take that personally. The person was probably going to deactivate their profile anyway, & you were just the last person they looked at. It does get frustrating though - like everyone says be patient. I think you have to look at it like part game & part luck of the draw. |
