At least one cell phone service will cause a mass panic

Terror attacks in a neutral country

Urban rioting across the globe as people under serious stress lose the ability to refrain from anger

Major break-thru in at least one vital industry dealing with energy production, food production or water purification.

World intelligence index rises as computers, cell phones and tablets become cheaper to obtain and internet service areas expand.

At least 5 major memes initiated by corporate media.

A new 'pet rock' "pokemon go" or bell-bottom fad erupts worldwide

At least one new major multi-country union forms.

Price of gas in the USA will decrease

It will cost more for menial labor in the USA

The USA will begin a mega project putting hundreds of thousands of people to work over +50 years

More water purification standards will be in effect due to multiple cities experiencing poisonous water supplies.

Pharmaceutical drug companies will face lawsuits causing the need for price drops to the consumers.

There will be a cure for aids, hep c and many other blood-borne pathogens.

Luxury taxes in the USA will increase.

There will be strife in England's kingdom when the queen passes.

Russia will become a leader in world trade, rivaling China and Japan.

There will be at least one major volcanic, tsunami, hurricane/typhoon and earthquake event worldwide. With major loss of life and property damage.

Cuba will openly trade with the USA.

North Korea will attempt a first strike on either South Korea or Japan.

A new fighting machine will be unveiled, either naval or air forces.

Dubai will have a structure collapse causing world concern.

Terrorist attacks related to refugee camps will increase causing global outcry.

More people will arm themselves with firearms.

Family values will continue to disappear causing more problems in the schools and the local communities.

Hatred and discrimination will increase causing more police presence everywhere.

Police forces in the USA will lose new recruits as police become a hostility target.

Without police protection and community order, utilities and trash collection will be undependable causing power outages, water shortages and garbage buildup in the communities.

Shall I go on? People will be locked into their cell phones never noticing the deterioration until it is interrupting their phone time.

The news will continue to spread rumor and supposition. Opinion will surpass the news as news...wait that already is...okay, it will get worse.

Wow... I was just going to be flippant and say , "I'll Poop."

..but perhaps cynicism is too easy..lazy.

I know that many loving, goodwilled people will do incredibly charitable and amazing things.....as in every year
Because..MOST folks want to be basically helpful and contributing citizens

I agree with some, but I think you are way off on a few.

Not these, at least as stated:

Sort of. "Major breakthroughs" are announced all the time. Most of them are more hype than anything else.

No way. Intelligence levels have nothing to do with technology. if anything, I would say that the relative explosion of communications tech here in the US, has primarily served to reveal just how UNintelligent too many people are, as the means to blurt out nonsense has been made easily attainable for even those incapable of rational thought.

We don't have any of these now. The current wave of anti-foreigner sensibilities everywhere, suggests the opposite.

"Russia will become a leader in world trade, rivaling China and Japan." I'd say no way this will happen in 2017. Russia has no infrastructure to support such an explosion of capacity.

I don't see that Korea's leaders are that stupid. Besides, they want to OVERRUN South Korea, not destroy it.

I'd go with something else in that area: increased friction between China and everyone else, as China continues to work to turn the West Pacific (relative to us) into the Great Chinese Sea.
