It is just familiarity and commonality that makes one usually date or hook up with people of their own race. Just curious if someone has developed a serious interest in another race that you feel you just have to experience? The last two years I have been feeling the urge to connect with a black gal. I don't know what it is but I'm so curious to meet up with and fool around with a black woman.

I'd like to blame Michonne from The Walking Dead but that might seem shallow. lol.

I'm Caucasian I guess, but my heritage is French Canadian and so my skin is a bit of a 'darker' hue. I still think that I have Metis in my background. But other than my dad's mom's side, the rest is all European French. I'm not like German or pale Norwegian skin Caucasian but that is my category.

I've never dated my own race, mostly because I have always found women of the Asian persuasion more attractive.

I dated black males because, as you said, that was familiar to me and I admire and hold the black males around me as examples of being a 'man'

I was never OPPOSED to dating anyone based upon race and never had a 'preference' to only date a specific race


the First time a trusted friend set me up with a white(yugoslavian) guy, I found alot of our family traditions and values were similar and he was vey 'manly' , and I was therefore attracted

I then became attracted to a 'manly' family friend who was italian

and a welsh man who was white,,,etc,,, etc,,,

(hops on the couch) Well I've always liked the Japanese culture ever since I was like six of seven. Then when I got into the NAVY I ended up getting stationed on the west coast and visiting several Asian countries and found that I liked a lot of aspects about the cultures on the that land mass. From the steps of Mongolia to the southern tip of India and form the western boarder of China to Papa New Guinea, I feel in love with the people and their history.

Now I tried dating my own race for many years and the first girl I was with I found out latter only slept with me because I was a thirty year old virgin and she felt sorry for me, she was also see two other guys at the time besides me. The last woman I was with was half Korean and half Hispanic but she couldn't handle me being deployed so that didn't last very long ether. Those are the only two I've been with and if I ever have another relationship I would prefer it be with someone of the Asian persuasion.

Now I know what you're saying "but the first girl was Caucasian", well yeah but we didn't date, we were more like F**k buddies. The second one was the only female I've ever dated.

I think people should date who they want to date - regardless.

That being said, I was married to a "Tejano, Latino, Hispanic" (pick a term)... man for 15+ years, and race came up a LOT during our marriage.

There were issues with some of his family, and friends as well as him. I had to listen to derogatory statements being made about my own race, as if I wasn't sitting there, or as if I wasn't white.

So - at this point in my life it would be one thing to date someone of another race, but never again would I wish to date someone with racial issues. Does that exist?

I don't think I'm obsessed with with the fantasy of interracial dating, but I will say that chatting online has broadened my outlook a lot, in terms of the pool for prospective romance.

Prior to my online interactions, I had only dated black men in my country, although we have many other ethnic groups represented here.

But since my foray into the online chat world, I have developed romantic attractions, or been on friendly dates with men ranging from Black to White , to Indian to Syrian to Latino, from places ranging from Trinidad to Barbados to America, to Belgium to Australia.

Mutual Love and compatibility are challenging enough to find . Why sabotage my chances further by setting up racial or ethnic blocks for myself?

yes thank you for posting a important topic such as this, here's where I'm at with this. I dated a lot women in my past. I dated American black women, I dated a lot of Latin girls, my ex was Russian. I see love as an emotion of beauty. nowadays I love Italian women. I date Italian women for various reasons, I don't care if they not black. if that Italian woman can love me the way I should, treat me like a king that I am and she happens to have Italian blood runs through her well....dang it I want to be with her.....lol.

Italian women are strong, very strong personalities. They tell you they take no Ish when it comes to BS. Italian women love hard. a lot of men that's not used to Italian women personality will be intimidated by them....another words scare of them. Italian woman fathers are like this if you get in god with dad, then everything will be sweet. I love Italian women. god bless them and I'm happy!
