fairly new here...just wondering

Do you use this site for dating or is it for the community?

I joined because of the dating potential, but now I'm hooked on th community/chat room aspect....

i know some will say "both" but the majority of time....which one?

not really for dating. ive met alot of great people from all over who are fun and interesting to talk to.

Honestly, this is more of a community site because for dating purposes, the people are usually too far away for me. Now I guess if you don't mind LDR's, it could be a dating site but that's not for me.

It is addicting though isn't it?

It is both.... the forums bring you closer to many, and still closer to others

I came here with no expectations......I mistakenly clicked on the ad while surfing the net for freebies....and thought what the heck! I enjoy chatting, and if I found someone....great! But I dont hold my breath, waiting, crying in my cereal, looking for that one in a million who will save my life!!

Dave, it is probably different with ea individual. Every time I meet someone of the opposite sex here, they become deactivated. So that doesn't say much for my luck, but it seems like many people here are friends from way back.

For me, its like the produce isle at the "dreaded" (can you tell I HATE the grocery store?,,he,he,he)

I can tell ya, I never looked at it like a dating site, but have met quite a few interesting people in the onion section.

One guy invited me for shrimp scampi and I dated him for a few months.

So you never know

I think it's a great site because of the friendships and maybe one day he'll show up...but not holding my breath!!! Just havin fun!!!!

Hi Dave, for me it's more of a community thing. I came from another site much like this one. I originally joined there looking for someone. What i found was so much more. In the 2 years or so i was there, i met some fantastic friends. The site deteriorated against my best advice, so...i found this one, and a lot of those people are here now. Everyone here seemed to be as we were...like a family, so I asked my family to come along. There are success stories in ldr's i know of several who have gotten married. Look at it this way, it's nice to meet new people, and possibly a potential mate, but it's great making friends along the way!

Definitely a "community" forum for me... NOT a dating site.

It's a great place to meet friends -- it's just the quality of the people here, much better than any of the other sites I've ever used. There is a sense of community here that's completely missing from most sites. I haven't found anyone even remotely datable yet, but you never know who might sign up tomorrow....

I have met some very very good friends here
