Topic: Does using the N word make you a racist ? | |
---|---|
I told my dad and he defended her saying she comes from a different time in history when that was acceptable. I said well it's hate filled he said no I don't understand. He said it's not hate filled and that I don't understand. Am I missing something ? yes... you are missing out... how lets say blacks use to joke with each other at times and use the word ****** in a playful since ... sometimes even with whites they where very close to ... these days where trying not to label anyone or any one thing and be polite about it ... most anyway ... some say only that can be use between the race for it to be ok ... people are different today and so is the world in trying to be politer to people and not judge from the color of their skin ... that's just my opinion and their are gazillion others that feel differently about words ... |

Read this article from Dr. Boyce Watkins, an educated black man, and you're whole understanding of the word will change.
http://financialjuneteenth.com/how-to-know-the-difference-between-a-black-man-and-a-ngger/ Any black person who reinforces black stereotypes is a ****** Any white person who reinforces white stereotypes is a cracker Any hispanic person who reinforces hispanic stereotypes is a spic Any jewish person who reinforces jewish stereotypes is a **** Any gay man who reinforces gay stereotypes is a fag Any lesbian who reinforces lesbian stereotypes is a butch And the list goes on. These terms aren't offensive when you realize they describe the degenerates of society. |

I don't call degenerates those names, because their ignorance, stupidity, and distorted views of reality would cause them to get easily offended. I don't need to apply this "theory" in actual life situations, I just need to observe how degenerates behave, talk, and think, and compare that to how actual humans behave, talk, and think. |

because the word cant be typed without it being censored and its the way the op refers to it so you do not find it offense?.. you use this word around friends and family. And people refer to you with this word? I find it offensive if used offensively yes, I have used it with close friends and they have used it with me |

He was talking about how euphemisms pervert the English language, because the people who support political correctiveness are so afraid they're going to offend someone just because of the words they use, not realizing the context is the only thing that matters. |

not to be funny
but I find the title offensive there is no singular way , the difference is defined by the person using the word at the time |

nobody should say that word period.

It appears to me that this issue is a generational issue within the USA.
I have yet to meet a black American of my generation or older who uses it while talking to another black American. However, black Americans of younger generations do use it while talking to each other. Earlier in this thread, I played devil's advocate whenever I challenged msharmony's arguments. Sometimes I do that to serve as the other person's sparring partner. A sparring partner helps a person to practice defense. In reality, it doesn't bother me at all if black Americans of younger generations use the "N" word with each other, and I do NOT consider them to be racists for doing so. |

Don't you see that even if your intentions for using the word is not as a racial slang but is to describe anyone who is being ignorant...is ignorant of you. The word '*****/******' was given to blacks during slavery and was meant as a derogatory term to describe them. So, saying it to a 'white' or 'Hispanic' or 'Chinese', etc, who in your interpretation of the word is behaving is such manner says a lot. You may not be trying to offend anyone, but can you see how it can? If 'Redneck' is defined as 'stupid' (just an example) and i tell anyone who is being stupid...'you darn redneck'...then i am associating a term used for a race as something not nice. I am not saying that you are a racist...i am just saying how it can be interpreted as racist. Just my two cents. In my country, the ratio of Blacks and Indians are almost on par, and those two group make up the bulk of the population, and there are racial contention among the two groups...it is not as bad as white and black in your country...but enough contention where the words '*****' and 'collie' are used for derogatory purposes. Collie used to describe the Indians. But of all the derogatory words used to describe different races, '*****' is the most sensitive of them all...

I'm not exactly sure how black people started getting called negros. That's how old people called them. Negros. Somewhere down the line it changed to ******. ****** means to be ignorant. I use the word a lot. But I don't use the word as a racial slur. I use it to descibe the actions of someone. Anyone from any color can be a ******. I'd rather also say black person instead of African American. That makes them sound like they just got here..they are Americans like I am. They don't call us European Americans. And I know..they are not black, but we are also not white. It's slang . Its better than using racial names. That's my 2 cents. Don't you see that even if your intentions for using the word is not as a racial slang but is to describe anyone who is being ignorant...is ignorant of you. Personally I don't care whether a person is black, white, hispanic or oriental that word needs to be retired from the English language.

I was a t my grandmothers house today and she saw one of her neighbors across the street doing yard work. And she laughed and said "there's (her name) haha stupid nig*er" Now my grandmother and this woman get along fine so why would she make a statement like that ? Anyone outside of a black person using the N word is being a bigot, yea. Black folks use the word in a different form and the meaning is different. Of course there are black folks who do not like the word and do not use it. But white racists gave them the word and they will reconcile it how they choose. Generationally speaking, our older generations were told and taught that this was acceptable. It is not. still just not getting it, i see...it means the same thing no matter who's using it, and it is just as racist when the blacks use it as well When an African American calls another American American " my N*gga it is a term of edearment, like my bud, my brother it is not meant to be an insult if it ends in an "a", it's not the same as it is if it ends with an "er"... the op never said "my n@gga, it said "stupid n***er"... big difference |

The C word's traces back to a term of respect that of queen. It was demonized by insecure men that sort to deny women their worth. The N word was not born out of respect but degradation. That the word is used commonly by buffoons in gangs and puppets in rap tracks show their ignorance.
