hank was banned because he drank a bit ( ok he drank a bit more then most) and ran around on his wife, back then this was not considered appropriate behavior in the opry but hanks seniors music does talk to you if you open your mind and listen

There are singers and bands in the UK that folks in the States haven't heard of and vice versa, so it's hard to make a choice.

All music is good. Depends on your taste.glasses

i lean towards more uk music bcause they invented punk,
though americans kind of did 4 punk what europeans did with the blues: took it and revitalized

Yokoke, Thanks for listening. Sonata is great and not too many in the US have heard of them. I understand that Children of Bodem are too much and I don't listen to them too much unless I get in an angry mood. They are a good sound for me if I just want to get some anger out my system.

Tallulah is a wonderful song and even better live. (I saw them live in houston last month and it was great. Since noone heard of them it was in a bar and I was like 10ft from the stage... I have awesome pics too.)

No problemo... like I said never would have heard of them if not listed...

That would have been great to see them live and be 10ft from stage...

I do miss the mosh pit areas LOLnoway ahhh to be older and wiser...

Wanna tell you a story ....
'bout a woman I know!!

Oh yes ACDC ... an amazing band (p.s. now they are a Aus/UK band - lead singer is from the UK)

I went to see them at a Donnington rock festival in 91, and they were fantastic.

INXS were also an incredible rock band.

Doesnt it depend on the type of music you like?

I would say that its horses for courses.

If I looked at my iPod, I'd see UK, US, Arabic, Thai, Australian, Canadian & German.

The Stones, the Beatles, The Rat Pack, North American Native, Guns N Roses, and opera.

Its all good, depending on the mood Im in ...

Now where's my air guitar??

One of the few bands that I have anything by from Finland is Apocolyptica. They're a Meyallica tribute band that does it all on four cellos. It's quite different and very cool!!!drinker

Lizard, so you lean towards punk rock.... That is your taste in music so that's ok. BUT, you can't deny (although you may try) that "popular" music in the United States is indeed the most prolific music listened too by the masses. Not only here in this country but in others as well. I was in Japan four years ago and was amazed to hear American music EVERYWHERE. I thought they were more "closed" to their own styles but that was a big mistake on my part.

Anyway, to keep you from going spazzo, I will just say that music is an aquired taste and people will like whatever they wish. ALL music is special in it's own way because it is in fact, art and art is always a good thing.drinker

I guess the question really is not who is better- the brits or the amex's but rather what your personal preferences are. What you like may be different than others taste. And both sides of the pond had great producers. I myself pride myself on my music collection. I have 5000 cd's. You talk about ac\dc. Try on australias angel city. That's where that started. My favorite groups out of michigan. The band altered state. They put out a cd called dos ( pronounced dose) that showcases talents rarely seen. That album hits home. It freaking moved me. The song 'thinking about moving to a catatonic state' sums up growing up in these times complete with suicide attempt at the end. I listen to everything from vivaldi (classical stringed) to current music (pop, rock). Being in the music biz and being talented enough to play guitar, bass, violin, drums, piano/keyboards has been a blessing also. Music has never hurt me but people have.
