I'm talking more about "popular" music. I'm not a fan of country music or stuff like that although of course, American's OBVIOUSLY win in that category.

Pop music in the United States has a pretty amazing sound and that's just a fact.drinker

hard question to answer..if it is just modern music, it is the US hands down with jazz, blues, country, rock, etc.

But how about classical music? Alot of the music we have today is based on classical music origins. Also, alot of rock and jazz come from roots based in Africa and South America. I am no music expert, but it is an excellent question to ponder.

And Lee, I agree. Australia's rock influence is awesome with INXS and Midnight Oil. Were they influenced at all by Aborigine and Maori music roots?

Hey Ken, Midnight Oil was definately influenced by Indigenous Australian music...

Peter Garrett was an advocate for justice, as well as a Environmentalist, whilst performing.

The band used to just be called The Oils, and I think they had a few other names, back when they were all University students, and a garage band, performing in local pubs in the late 70's and early 80's.

Peter Garrett has now joined politics, and is a representative for the Labour Party.

I am not sure with INXS, their influences, however, culturally, being a small nation population wise, we were all influenced by Indigenous, and Maori music, in our youth...

"Pop music in the United States has a pretty amazing sound and that's just a fact."

Excuse me!? pop music may have been good in the 60s when it was a force for change but now Its all commercialized hiphop and fake rebels, today in america the vast majority of pop is just junk. There r very few bands that r popular with everyone and r any good. As far as pop i would say the uk has our stuff from the last decade soundly trounced because of one band: oasis

Not to say there isnt good american music that i listen to from the last decade but most when i say their names to most americans they go "whos that? were they in highschool musical?"

I am not a big fan of modern american music. I love classic rock and I love modern metal from Finland. If I listen to any "POP" music it has to be 70s-80s.

Why was Hank banned? I thought Johnny Cash was the only one? lol

Ok sincere....proceed LOL Just Kidding Lizard you boys play nice

Chazster thanks for the utuber, very nice.... Tullulah is so sad of a song... Angra & Children of Bodom were a bit too much for my taste LOL...Thanks for listing as honestly I had never heard of them...flowerforyou

I was exposed to it all and don't have one set I lean towards... music effects the moods and moods effect the music you listen to... I may have a few favs in each genre... so being exposed to new stuff is kewl....

On that note it's been a nice evening...nite ya all and enjoy...

The US produced Robert Johnson and Duane Allman, who were hands down the best guitarists ever to play.

But Britain produced Jimmy Page (and the rest of the Zeppelin!) and Eric Clapton, who are the best guitarists who are still alive today.

Therefore, it's a stalemate.
