Why is a noose always related to racism. (?)

There is a difference between a lynching and a hanging or act of suicide.

Those that have bigoted beliefs have chosen the noose to be a symbol of their rage. Since lynching was the most popular form of exterminating those that would not comply.

They have grown accustomed to using the noose in an effort to terrorize. Much in the same way the Klu Klux Klan uses a burning cross in a front yard.

i know not ALL black people use the Nword to refer to one another, but as it is a word filled with hate invented by white people and used buy SOME african americans in reference to eachother i feel it is my duty nay my i-wish-i-were-oppressed majority privledge to take words that black people invented 4 white people and use them in reference to other pasty folks like myself
thats right next time i see one of my friends walking down the street i will exclaim "salutations honky!" or "how are you cracker!"

No matter how smooth you say it you come to the very same conclusion as I do.

Smooth? Not really...

My point was... you just might be the male couterpart to women like that. Which would explain your lack of success here.

As far as racism goes, and Hawaiigurl's referance to Dog... The man, in my opinion is a fake. The few times I have seen the show, he is preaching his faith in God and people much of the time... yet on the other hand, before he catches them, he uses words that are constantly bleeped, in reference to the people on his list..... It is no surprise he uses the term he used... and treats people the way he does.

I find that women of nonwhite ethnicities r even less attracted to me than white gals. Is that racist of them?

I just kind of think that the world doesn't really want to get ride of the idea of race. Thats the worlds decision and if thats what they want they can have it. I don't agree with it but thats how things are. The thing thats not fair is that its only ok to have a racial organized group if you are not a majority. Let me clarify this.

I am in college and am a member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers). There are big organizations for every engineering major. Some people at my school are not in these organizations but rather in NSBE(National Society of Black Engineers) and SWE( Society of Womens Engineers).

My question is why have segregated groups and not be unified? Also, you know that if there was a National Society of White Engineers or a Society of Male Engineers there would be several protesters against these organizations.

Chazster,

I think that is an excellent question. Can you join the "black" or womens group? If you can then it's not segregated so that is cool. I agree with you on the segregation of groups. There may still be a feeling that that "group" needs representation. I would assume they occassionally protect the rights of others and ''''' because there is still a lot of racism its purpose is to show solidarity rather than segregation. I do hope that in our time we can see a blending of the groups and that everyone feels represented and treated fairly.

Unionworker I hope you change your opinion that everyone is racist. I stand by my original statement. I know what it is.... but I am not.

I think there is social stereotyping which I believe is different than racism. So I recognize there may be similarities within a culture or society... It is sometimes how comedians point out white, or hispanics, or asians... "flaws"... and black and asian and white comedians will pounce on the social stereotyping including their own "race" "culture"....

I'm white and laugh at the stereotyping done in jest and I laugh when I think its a funny observation of anothers "culture"

When it's mean spirited I boo.

I don't date anyone but caucasion men. Am I a racist? Mainly its because of my parents, that I will not date other than white men. I think it is more cultural than racist. Conflicted on this.

^^^Whether it is racist, a matter of taste..etc... I could not possibly answer. That's something only you or your higher power can answer.

However.. If I only dated within my race... it would make my world artificially smaller then it has to be.

Yes, technically you can join those groups, but as a white male I won't join a group called the National Society for Black Engineers nor will I join the Womens. They legally can't keep you from joining but they keep it separated just by name alone.

I may piss some people off with this but here goes.
I know I'm coming in late with this but I Kind of agree with what UnionIronworker said.
We all do have a bit of racism in everyone and it's a sad fact because it is so wrong.
I do not treat any race differently but every once in a while I'll get this thought popped in my head and I'll be like
"WOAH! where did that come from?"
I believe that we all are the same but weather you are black, white, asian, Mexican or other races we all do have this prefix there.
I believe that we should only be one race and that's the HUMAN RACE.
I grew up with a malato {Maybe that's the wrong term but I don't know what else to call it} cousin, we were best friends, He was always just my cousin and nothing more/less then that.
I was so sad when he moved and miss him to this day.
I dated a black woman for a while and she was one of the most intelligent woman I have ever met, we were always on the same page and I loved her deeply but things didn't work out because they did work out with her husband {They were sepperated when we met and ready for devorce, I was glad for her when they got back together and now they have a beautiful daughter.}
I think it is how we react to the thoughts and how we treat others that is important.
There are people who show a blatent disregaurd for other races and then there are people who show a repsect to all inspite of what may come.
People don't like to Admit it but they do things without thinking, I see people pick black guys at basketball because their black, asians get thought of as Karate masters and math wizes, White guys are trailer trash or uber rich, Mexicans are thought as hard workers for low pay illigals.
No matter what race you are you have some kind of thought of what you are according to what you look like.
Even though people think they are enlightend and noble I think people don't want to be that way so it is still hidden in socity and subconsously.
We as a people need to know that being racist is not just a thought it is our actions toward others and what we will teach & Distil in our children & Grandchildren about equality for everyone not just our own race.

Racism can't work both ways -- it's not economically or socially possible except for someone like Oprah Winfrey or John H. Johnson. Black people are majorly consumers by the vice of historical and capitalist racism and therefore own nothing with which to "lord it over" other races with.

Can't control other races socially or economically or even psychologically; can't decide their fate and destiny by using race against them, and definitely can't shut any other races out of anything based on race alone--all they CAN do with regard to racism is self-implode and destroy one another, and that's because of the backlash of historic racism.

If you are saying blacks CAN be bigoted and prejudiced, that's one thing--and they often hate their own more than they do other races; but "racist blacks" in America -- it hasn't happened and likely never will. Of course, the blacks in Africa would have fared much better on a global scale if they had learned TO BE racist while they had the chance.

Marjie look at the third definition of racism.
3. hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.

You don't have to have control over anything to be racist. It is just intolerance.
