I am a fan of Downton Abby, Doctor Who, Being Human (first couple of seasons), and Sherlock (starring Cumberbatch). I am sure if I tried to think of a few others I would have a longer list.
What is your favorite British television show? Is it the acting, the story line, the different feel to the production, or all the above or something else? |

It's awful, just stupid American reality shows mainly now! Even the few that COULD be fairly good are ruined by the drama that is made up and inserted in....terrible, just terrible. |

The documentaries are good tho I hate reality tv! There is nothing real about any of them. Life's too short to watch fictionalized "real" drama. LOL Might as well watch daytime soaps, which I do not like either. |

What is your favorite British television show?
Mostly the ones that aren't being made anymore. Whenever I watch British series on Netflix it seems they are all in a competition to see who can make viewers feel either the most bored or most horrible. Pure emotional manipulation, far too dependent upon mood music screaming at the audience and telling them how they should feel. Otherwise they're competing on who can have the stupidest characters. 99% of the (especially romantic) drama on British television seems like it could be solved if one person just said what they were thinking rather than something like "well, uh, I, uh, that is, uh, er, umm, you see, I have to say, quite right, the thing is, about that, I think, well, it's like, um, uh, well, I don't know, what I mean to say is, uh, no it's more like, ah, well, basically..." until something stupid comes along and forces them to focus on something else. But maybe that's all of t.v. anymore. I saw Batman vs. Superman yesterday. And it seems based on that crap fest t.v. and films are going this route where they have some kind of emotional premise or idea, they shoot a couple of decent 1 minute scenes like for a weekly youtube or web series, then they just stick a bunch of filler (sometimes bumbling, sometimes slapstick, sometimes special effects) into however long is wanted, but mostly for the sake of saying "see, we've got 23 minutes, 43 minutes, 90 minutes, 120 minutes, to sell to the advertisers." Far more emphasis on story driven characters rather than character driven stories and a lot of convincing stupid people it's the opposite. It's far more entertaining to watch any British or American or Asian t.v. series and pull it apart and figure out which past shows they've copied their ideas from, comparing episodes and dialog and figuring out which week they were pressed for ideas and when they failed good ideas. Far more entertaining to deconsruct a show or series to figure out what it says about the people behind the camera than anything that is actually captured and shown as a story. |

'Absolutely Fabulous', always and forever :-) Absolutely sweetie Never really got it when it was originally aired in the early 90's but just like the characters, i was probably too drunk to realise how funny it was. We have had some good sitcoms over the years but can't think of anything that's remotely good these days. |

That one sounds interesting! I wonder if Netflix has it OMG the only sitcom where I actually laughed out loud watching it. Then later Edwina played Ross's (Friends) wife's mother.. that is one funny broad. |
