I usually love British productions. I'm not entirely sure what makes it stand out. When it's shows, it's definitely lighting. BBC productions are geniuses when it comes to lighting. Many shows don't invest in good lighting, which costs a bit, but it does pay off.
But also the sets, camera work, and when it comes to series, clothes. And of course excellent actors. Like the aforementioned Benedict Cumberbatch. I used to Torchwood! And Jonathan Ross on Friday Night |

On the buses, is my favourite as are the old Morecambe and Wise shows.
They don't make stuff like this anymore because the nature of what people want to watch has changed, along with the demographics of Britain, and not to mention half of the this old stuff would be too offensive these days. I watched a documentary a few weeks back, called "it was alright in the", and it focussed on different decades, it showed tv shows and adverts from those era's and asked people to comment on them from a modern P.O.V, it was quite funny to see what people are outraged by now, but in those days it was acceptable and funny! |

That was weird, but fun in its own sense. Black Adder was wonderful. Have I got News for You was fun too. Maybe I should start watching Beep again, haha. |

I am a fan of Downton Abby, Doctor Who, Being Human (first couple of seasons), and Sherlock (starring Cumberbatch). I am sure if I tried to think of a few others I would have a longer list. What is your favorite British television show? Is it the acting, the story line, the different feel to the production, or all the above or something else? It's no longer on air it was called "Are you being served" it was hillarious. |

The BBC movie Conspiracy is really good as well about the Wannsee Conference the Nazi's had during World War 2 that decided on the final solution. It is historically accurate and pretty chilling.

For those who haven't seen them try these.
'Mock the week', it's a group of comedians who poke fun at the last weeks news. 'The moaning of life', it's a guy who travels the world and discovers other cultures, very funny. |

The 3 guys don't do it any longer, one of them ( Clarkson) got sacked and the others stood by him, haven't seen the new one but apparently it's not very good! |

My favorite British TV show is "Call The Midwife". It is so interesting to me. They've touched on birth control & how the Church was not tolerant, & the Thalidomide that caused so many birth defects & why the women took it. I could relate to the constant morning sickness that lasted all day & every time you would eat it would come back up. Anyway, that is mine. Only problem at first was trying to understand what they were saying so I turned on the CC. |

When I see a topic on British TV....yeah rite, with only like three channels, the first show that comes to mind is...."Are you being served"...a stint in retail, made this realistic to me...and I still watch re-runs when time permits....humour Brit style, is still hard to beat....just saying...
