that struck me as a "well duh no ****in **** moment" you if mess with wild animals and you mess with them often your chances of getting hurt, injured or killed increase everytime.

how the frick was that new?laugh

god rest his soul, but are people that dumb to believe that nothing serious would ever happen to him?

Well, it wasn't so much the shock of something happening to him. The details of his death really was a freak accident, even if he did exposed himself to all sorts of creatures many times.

Right, and so he was a 'No s*t, big deal?" in predicting the possibility of his death?

The man was raised on a reptile park, from the moment he was born, he didn't just wake up one day and say, " I think I might wrestle crocs".

Steve Irwin has done more to remove the myths of creatures that are fast becoming extinct, through human ignorance, than any other person alive or dead in our modern times.

He had more balls than 99.9 % of humanity, in bringing to the fore how very fragile this eco system is, in a no nonsense, straight talking, fair dinkum, walk his talk, person.

Irrespective of his crazy accent.

Too bad you all saw him as nothing but cheap entertainment.explode  grumble

I agree Gypsy, most aussies were ashamed of his delivery, his mannerisms and how he spoke, portraying us as all wandering around saying 'Crikey' every five minutes.

But his messages were the clearest I have ever seen, in how to handle, how to respect, and how to be educated about some dangerous creatures.

Steve had been bit by more snakes than most, and most times he was the first to admit, it was a lapse on his part.

I still stand by my statement, he did more to educate than any other I know.

I thought he was irresponsible and cared very little for the underwater environment.

A world's authority on reptiles, he may be, but he knew less about underwater.

On land, I enjoyed his energy and his educational abilities.

Underwater he was a liability and a circus-freak

Sorry, but I dont see him as the all-conquering hero.huh

I know little of his underwater forays, I know of his parents who live in this district, or rather did, prior to Steve's death , and his vast tracts of land, that is utilised for rehabilitating indigenous animals that have been injured by fires and other accidents, as in roads.

I know of his breeding programmes he has here in Queensland, and his zoo, which is an educational park/reserve.

I can't comment on what he did for underwater conservation, because I have no first hand knowledge.

On land, he was without equal. I completely agree.

Underwater he was a tv sensationalist. It annoyed me, thats all.

Underwater is a place close to my heart.

With all due respect....

this is in response
to the comment made and I quote

" Too bad you all saw him as nothing but cheap entertainment".

You All?
Who who are you speaking to here?
all of us who are reading this post?
everyone who has watched him on tv?
everyone in the US of A ?

While there may be "some" truth to that...

this is not an across the board accurate statement...

It is unfair and completely untrue to lump together
everyone from the United States
or everyone who watches tv
as to being of a certain way of thinking.....

just as inaccurate as it would be
if I suggested that everyone
from another country believed a certain way....
or everyone who plays frisbee golf or hopscotch
or those eho go to a certain school or church
is of a particular cloned mindset.

that is not accurate ... '

I loved the croc hunter and was very impressed with his dedication to the environment...the fragile eco-system
His Family... and his friends and his zoo..drinker

He had such genuine passion and youthful enthusiasm:heart:

I cried and cried when he died...sad

The world suffered a huge loss when he passed away:cry:

My heart goes out to his family drinker flowerforyou

please see more to this picture:heart:
