The Apostle Paul to Timothy: "Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses." (1 Timothy 5:23)
The wine that Paul spoke of contained alcohol. |

Probably the most addictive drug. Alcohol is also essentially poison, and your body is never particularly on board with getting poisoned. Prolonged use manages to ravage nearly every part of your physiology, surpassing some opiates.
So it's absolutely terribly for your body, but like I said, it's probably the most addictive drug, and for a good reason - it's one of the most accessible and visceral highs. |

Hate to say it, but beer has proven health benefits also. Jeez, the pure fiber effect should be enough to tell anyone that.

It is no different then anything else you over indulge in, and there will be issues to deal with..
It is all in moderation.... There are some that really need to have a few drinks and chill out... in my books.. What gets me some feel that the several bottles of Prescription Drugs they take are okay due to the Dr gave them to them... Which in fact can do worse damage to your organ's then most have any clue... For some a drink now and then does not hurt. By the way had a Uncle his Dr told him over 20 years ago to drink one to two beers every night for it helped with the kidneys... He did it for years and lived way up in his 80's.. |

The good thing is that you generally know when you have had enough, because you fall over backwards. |

Not particularly good for the body, but slightly good for the soul.
