Jess,
I understand what you are saying, and I respect the memory of ANYONE fallen in combat. You say we shouldn’t be her praising each other in this way, and I do not agree. That is almost like walking into any VFW and saying that they shouldn’t be sitting around talking to each other, other than talking about deceased comrades. Every day when we are at work we see the empty places in our divisions/platoons/squads where our friends and brothers used to be and we are reminded, and it is something that none of us are ever going to forget. Something that will forever be ingrained into our psyche. For a few minutes a day we are allotted time where it is not on our minds, and then this happens… |

to all you warriors out there that live as men undder authority and check your will at the door to serve your nation.
I salute your bravery and courage. I applaud your excellence in the field. I admire your tenacity to run into fire, balls out. The world knows you are not playing. The world also knows to fear young American Warriors. Be proud, your honor and integrity is not lost on any of us. Wish you all could get home and we could call it a day, but that isn't likely. May God bless you all and remember your sacrifices.

No you don't because I am the one that does the rehab, the occupational therapy.
I fix the broken kids, the battered wives, the broken families, I fix the end result of what military life does to people. I KNOW MY **** Grannit, or I would never have posted in this thread. |

yeah i may not have gone to basic yet but i grew up with a father in the Guard and he was gone all the time....i never knew if he was going to come home...it scared the **** out of me

CombatMedic: Jess has asked questions that even seasoned troops have asked themselves. There is no reason to be getting pissed.
Jess: The men you work with knew what they were getting into. The risks of combat are there as soon as you put on the uniform. Be it a broken mind or a broken body. The best you can hope for is to not be one who is broken, and if you are then for the help to be there to put you back together. To quote a soldier from the beaches of Normandy, "God please help us. You better come yourself too and not send Jesus. This ain't no place for kids." Be it with sword and bow or M16 and LAW's war has never been pleasant and those choosing that path are to be commended. |
