I have a son in the military, Special forces Advance Scout, and my ex husband was military, SAS branch my Grandfathers were in the Boer war and the First World War, my Father was occupational forces in Japan...don't tell me I am talking stupidly.

I know what war and violence does..

I asked legitimate questions, and said nothing negative about any soldier.

Jess, the lost in combat question is something you NEVER ask any enlisted personel. it hit close to home almost (sometimes more) as much as asking how ___insert family member here____ died.

i'm not lookin down on you for it, its a valid question and one that is asked often, mostly by people that don't know how much it settles into our hearts.

The losses are vast , and rather than parade around in back slapping each other, think about the young ones that are lost, the casualties..

I find this thread offensive, that the faces, the lives of those that died, in combat, and home, through what war did to them is much more about honour,

Don't tell me about losses and what is not ok to ask...I know them first hand.

Jess you just dont understand...yeah you may have family in or are prior service...but this thread is to thank all the soldiers who are in or are prior...we dont want to talk about sh** like what you asked.
We all made a choice and yes some people regret it but 99% of us dont and never will.
I'm proud to be in the Army and I will never regret it no matter wat happens to me.
I Love the Army and nothing will ever change that

Combat, you haven't even started basic, dont you tell me what you are proud to be...when you have faced those moments, when your buddy lies in a million pieces, or when he has lost more of him than kept, and there's not a damn thing you can do, when you awake stateside screaming, drenched in sweat from another nightmare, then you can tell me what I can and cannot say.

im going to go and try to save all those that i can.

I know the risks and the sacrafices and i'm willing to deal with them.
If i die over there than atleast i know that i did all i could for my Country and everyone here who supports us and to protect the ones who dont want to support us and who dont think wat we are doing is right.
