Like I said several times, I take communication seriously - especially when words are the only means to do so in an online community - and I find them to degrade the substance of a conversation. You all can interpret that as an attack on your modes of communication if you please, but its not.

I carry the same attitude here as I would in a real conversation. I try my best to express myself as accurately and sincerely as possible.

I don't have an online persona. If that means I come across as a pretentious and boring person, I don't care.

I used up my big word quota for the day in some other threads, and the beginning of this one....

I will be monosyllabic within an hour...

people don't read dictionaries to have a diverse vocabulary, they just read.

Why all the defensive attacks when someone used good grammar and coherent sentence structure?

for me.. emoticons... bring happiness... its something out of the ordinary that you dont get in real life... when you do one of these silly faces in real life.. you could get slapped lol...

its ok you dont like them, but there are so many that do, and maybe you could try to use them once in a while and see if it makes you smile too.

I myself, use lol alot online, and not so much in real life... its me... and I love it lol.

Should I use some more colloquial slang and misspelling to ease everyones egos?

It's an individual expression of their personalities! You like them or you don't? Not that simple. Some choose to use them and some don't. Some just on occasion. Some when the "mood" strikes their fancy!

I got 4 hits tonight while on a rant with friends here. Now I enjoy that fact that there are 4 more women tonight that enjoy humor coming out of my spirit and will remember the moment for whatever its worth. Now then, if I sit back and observe in my stoic fashion with templed grace and reservedly display my moral content without color, I'm apt to attract an auditor on the night shift working furiously somewhere in Fresno or Austin or worse yet in Langly!! I would rather spend the rest of my life with a balanced nutcase!! SEE!!!! We're different! I'm cool with that. We can be friends, too!
