They are trying to relive their youth? (or the youth they wished they'd had)
A motorcycle seems to say: I have disposable income to spend on a mode of transport that can only be used on sunny days in summer, with room for only one (myself) & I'm a macho alpha male b/c I can handle straddling this large piece of machinery between my legs LOL! P.S. You never see them posing with a minivan...which would say I'm financially sensible, & can go grocery shopping at the drop of a dime... :-) |

I've had Harleys and Indians, pretty much since I was 14 years old.
They'll not be leaving my life, anytime soon. But, I won't venture to guess why some people do the *silly* stuff, that they do. |

you would need to ask each person for there reason, could be ego, the last grasp at holding on to youth, some don't discover the joys of riding until then. I was riding before I was old enough to drive and still ride. I have always had a bike....... two wheel therapy for me and that is my reason. |

i gave up my bike a long long time ago
had a truck in front of me , dodged the car in front of him i didnt see it till about a second before i ran in to the back of it , was just enough time for me to push off the bike straight up , and over the top of there car ,as my bike crashed in to the back of the4re car , doing a roll in the air , coming down on the road in front of there car and across 4 lanes of traffic ... still not a clue how i didnt get hit lol |

I was not able to ride a motorcycle until after my divorce, since she would not allow it due to the danger.
First thing I did was take my motorcycle safety class and get my cycle license. But I still don't have a pic of me and my bike! |

I started riding when I was a teenager.. stopped while raising my kids, but picked it back up when they were out on their own. I Just like motorcycles, for me it is a stress release and relaxing.
I like to rebuild old ones, tinker with some, customizing them a bit ,then either sell them or keep them. There is really nothing like it.. riding down along the coast in the summer or up thru the mountains in the fall. It is also a equalizer.. some of the nicest people I have met were other riders. It doesn't matter what you do for a living.. no one cares. We just talk bikes. But I know what you mean, I see a lot of bike tha are a few years old and have only a few hundred miles on them... those guys don't buy them to ride them, they by them as a photo prop. and to round out their garage. |

Someone explained that, but buggered if I can find it now ...
Anyhow, status is very important to men, far more than to women (unless you're talking a very masculine energy woman). It's directly to do with everything masculine, provide, protect, courage etc. So in a way logical that when they feel they aren't as good/strong/attractive etc anymore as their younger counterparts -which is around 40 for many-, they want to compensate with external things. (embodied, ascribed, achieved status) Of course there's some who always rode a bike/sports car or always craved it but could never afford it when they were younger. Fact remains that such things are still mostly status related, in conjunction with the masculinity thing Found you a website on it: http://www.artofmanliness.com/2015/09/08/men-and-status-an-introduction/ |

But I still don't have a pic of me and my bike! hmmmm this one I probably would have been guilty of doing..if he had gone out and bought a bike I probably would have had a royal melt down redheaded temper fit over the danger of it, the cost of it .. hahaha we had an agreement in our marriage whatever he spent at the gun show I spent at the mall for he had had a tendency to over spend so this helped him keep it in control |

My mid life crisis caught me by surprise.
Stainless steel finish. Top of the line. 4 slice toaster. I don't regret it. |

My mid life crisis caught me by surprise. Stainless steel finish. Top of the line. 4 slice toaster. I don't regret it. Until I stuck in a butter knife to dislodge the wedged bread and got an instant perm. I haven't learned much in my 40+ years.... .......BUT I GOT ME A KILLER BIKE BIAAACHES! |

But I still don't have a pic of me and my bike! I'd actually quite like to have a man who had a bike! I don't want to ride one myself, but I really don't mind being his fender fluff I bike riding together! Last time was ... holy crap ... long time ago! |

I have notice guys have their toys they keep in their man cave garages
Its like their time out hobby stuff with their mates. It's good guys have toys with their mates but as the kids get older the toys get bigger. All through my childhood dad had big bikes until his accident then he did scuba diving from there it was boats and rods as he and his friends got older. Dad met mum at the bus stop he was on his motorcycle stopped and picked her up. The rest was history. Some old guys you see with have all the gears like leather jackets and pants. Is it a phase they go through I have also notice as soon a guy reaches 40 it's like their brain flipped and they go and do crazy stuff. It's that because of a hormone or a chemical unbalance in their body? What some guys do I guess we as female are not meant to understand. |
