Do you believe Honesty is the best policy in a Relationship??
I don't know what you mean by "honesty." It's far more complex an issue. I mean there are many times when being honest is just being selfish, where it serves absolutely no purpose except to make you feel better, or confessing sins that really don't matter, to assuage personal guilt, or because you want your ego stroked, wanting brownie points for being honest. I think "honesty" is the easiest and most simplistic policy in a relationship. I think "honesty" is just one side of a bell curve with "compulsively lying" at the other end. I think if you know someone and can figure out when they're being honest, when they're not, and why they're being either makes "honesty" as a policy pointless. |

Ciretom points out well why I never sign up for any "blank check" scenarios like this question.
Something to watch out for in general: if you find yourself trying to find and cite a general rule of behavior, not to guide YOURSELF, but to try to use it to force other people to do what you want, it usually means you are on the wrong track entirely. |

I have had honesty save me in more than one tricky situation.
Actually had a boss stand up for me because I was always honest. Be true to yourself, your word, and your work. |

Is honesty the best policy in a relationship....Not if you care about sex it isn't..... honey how is the roast I made for you I know I overcooked it just a bit.....If you were to use honesty..
You might say something like this.. Overcooked it a bit.. is a understatement.. I've had Hockey pucks that were more tender..lol. .. no sex for you.. .. .. now same scenario but not being honest.. The roast was delicious my dear.. I like it slightly overcooked.. You take such good care of me baby.. Yep you're having sex.. : |

Sure.....honesty is always good. For instance.....
Man: "Honey.....I have this growth on my ballsac. Come take a look at it please." Woman: "Ugh! Do I look like I am a Doctor or something?" Man: "Well....she asked me to tell you everything dear! You know...that whole honesty thing". Woman: "You are such an a-hole! Go to the Doctor". Man: "Love you!" Woman: "Love you!" Ahhhhhhhh! Relationships! |

Guys lie to get sex??? Who knew??? I would have to say honestly I cannot speak for most guys out there.. But for myself most definitely so.. So I do not use honesty always in a relationship.. especially when I would like some sex... and if she was being honest she would not always say she has a headache when she probably doesn't... Haha.. .. But you probably already knew that! |

Honesty is important in any relationship. There are tactful ways to give someone bad news. (and still be able to have sex)
