This seems to come up here quite a lot and be a major concern for some people. I don't know about you but a lot of the women that I've met through the dating scene were a bit mental and you know what it's like. You meet your date and they start telling you all about their issues and you're not sure if they're bipolar or what unless they actually tell you that they've been diagnosed.

Is this all just big red flag stuff to you and just totally not what you want to hear on a first date or would you listen to them telling you how they have Asperger's or are a high functioning sociopath or whatever and apreciate their honesty about that?

It's not red flag stuff so much as just plain indicators of incompatibility.

Especially if it's a first date. If their only conversation skill is confessing their mental and emotional problems as though I'm a therapist it's going to be boring and annoying.

would you listen to them telling you how they have Asperger's or are a high functioning sociopath or whatever and apreciate their honesty about that?

I would listen for a while, I wouldn't appreciate or disparage their "honesty," but I wouldn't date them again.

would you date someone with an artificial limb ?

Depends.
Is it just a smooth stump?
Or are there little nubbins to play with?
I knew a girl that was born with one arm, the other ended at the elbow and had these little nubbins like the fingers started growing but just stopped.
I always wanted to play with those.

Ideally I'd like to date a woman with 6 toes on each foot.
I love playing "this li'l piggy" and coming up with fun things for new piggies to do.
The only 6 toed woman I ever met was already married.
I tried a strapon toe with one chick, but it just wasn't the same.
She felt guys that liked strapon toe action were footgay.

If she had a tiny tail or 6 fingers on each hand, that's just nasty.
A long prehensile tail would be awesome.

Have you thought of moving to another country?
Maybe the women are better there.
What about asking friends I'd they know someone. ?
A guy with a puppy or baby seems to bring them in lol.

not sure I've ever dated someone with mental problems. ..

but then again I don't try to diagnose my dates,

so if I have by chance been with a date who has mental problems I wouldn't know

FYI

Bipolar is a mental/behavioral health diagnosis. Asperger's is a developmental disorder. And, sociopathy aka anti-social personality disorder is a personity disorder.

As a practitioner.... some people manage bipolar well and you never know. Others... run for the hills.

Asperger's depending on the traits is very manage about but definitely need an understanding partner.

Sociopaths.... RUN! Or you might end up in a garbage can.

Someone having a diagnosis doesn't make them any less worthy of a relationship. As someone else said it is about compatibility. My best friend is married to a man with a diagnosis of Schizophrenia and they are great together.

I dated a bi-polar for years. It was extremely difficult. Eventually, the progression of the disease made the continuation of the relationship impossible.

Hey, nobody's perfect. Everybody has some kind of "personality disorder". It might be fun dating someone who is "bi-polar". It would be like dating two people and never knowing which one you were going out with that night; never boring anyway.

If somebody has got a lot of "issues", at least there would be something to talk about and the conversation is never going to lag.

If somebody has Asperger syndrome, maybe they'll keep quiet when the game is on the telly.

No, I wouldn't be put off by it. As long as he isn't violent. If he WAS violent, well that is a completely different story. I used to be with someone who was Schizophrenic. It was a struggle, yet our bond meant so much to me to make me want to stay with him. Not going to mention how our relationship ended, but I did feel a huge loss, knowing I'd never get the chance to talk to him anymore.

Well, I suppose that I'm the sort of guy that women find it fairly easy to talk to about their problems. They would probably tell me all sorts of things on a first date that other guys wouldn't get out of them. Whether they do drugs, for instance.

Oh and I don't know how someone gets diagnosed with a sociopathic disorder if they haven't been in prison and if he's a high functioning sociopath he's probably pretty good at staying out of prison.

It really depends...
If she's a wackjob, AND a hawt nymphomaniac... yeah, I could date her.
Relationship/cohabitate, just no.

If wackjob is all she has going for her, then no.

Sex with a bi-polar person is like a threesome. One is yelling at you while the other just lays there and takes it.

Plus, there is a 50% chance the one with the issues is yourself.
