i painted a picture of you yesterday
and with each stroke the memories flashed by
and although i had to put my brushes away
today ill give it a try

the yellow for the sun,
that shined through your hair
the blue for the color of your eyes
the red for the lipstick that you use to wear
white for the clouds in the sky

and greens for the grass below your feet
and for the trees that surrounded you
in the park where we use to meet
ill use the color autumn brown too

on the living room wall is where it will stay
so before i go to bed each night
i can blow a loving kiss your way
and tell you to sleep real tight

and though it wont replace your touch and feel
its all i have left of you
and even though i know its not real
it keeps me from feeling blue

sometimes i pull it down and we dance
to the songs of our lasting love
and i know that there is no second chance
i trust youre with the lord above

i remember the day the angels came
and stole you away from me
since then ive never been the same
i doubt that i will ever be

and for you a kiss good night my love
until i see you again
and well be together again above
ill keep missing you till then
