Topic: COFFEEHOUSE CHAT FOR CHRISTIANS

It's interesting when I just went through and read again. I thought of certain people and wondered if they believe what they do to justify their lives. If people can't live as God intended Do you think they live by what makes their lifestyle acceptable in their eyes? I don't mean this as to judge anyone, I am no ones judge....I just wonder if some of these people that they find it easier to live as they see fit instead of how God wants us to live.

Thoughts anyone?

Here is just one topic in the long apologetic article that FCL posted.

Monotheistic

Christianity is monotheistic - Only one God in existence, anywhere, anytime.
See Isaiah 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
Isaiah 44:6,8
6. Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
7. And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them.
8. Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

Isaiah 45:5 I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:
Isaiah 45:14 Thus saith the Lord, The labour of Egypt, and merchandise of Ethiopia and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over unto thee, and they shall be thine: they shall come after thee; in chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down unto thee, they shall make supplication unto thee, saying, Surely God is in thee; and there is none else, there is no God.
Isaiah 45:18, For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else.
Isaiah 45:21 Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the Lord? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.
Isaiah 45:,22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
Isaiah 46:9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,

Isaiah 47:8 Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:
John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
1 Cor. 8:5-6
5. For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
6. But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
Gal. 4:8-9
8. Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.
9. But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?

Read these verses that teach monotheism.

I have made each of these into a nice document with some formatting to make it more readable. When I post then here, the formatting is gone. If anyone would like a more readable copy, email me. I will send you the document as I see it.

Hello feral, my name is J.R. I have enjoyed several of your posts so far. Since this has been requested as a debate-less, open forum of praise, and as I have seen several poems thusfar, please allow me to share one of my personal favorites. May the Lord bless and keep you in the pleasure of his beautiful and wonderous grace.

THE FOUNTAIN OF PRAISE

All my soul was dry and dead till I learned that Jesus bled;

— bled and suffer'd in my place, bearing sin in matchless grace.
Then a drop of heavenly love fell upon me from above,

and by secret, mystic art reached the centre of my heart.
Glad the story I recount, how that drop became a fount,

bubbled up a living well, made my heart begin to swell.
All within my soul was praise, praise increasing all my days;

praise which could not silent be. Floods were struggling to be free.
More and more the waters grew, open wide the flood-gates flew,

leaping forth in streams of song flowed my happy life along.
Lo, a river clear and sweet laved my glad, obedient feel!

Soon it rose up to my knees, and I praised and prayed with ease.
Now my soul in praises swims, bathes in songs, and psalms, and hymns:

plunges down into the deeps, all her powers in worship steeps.
Hallelujah! O my Lord, torrents from my soul are poured!

I am carried clean away, praising, praising all the day.
In an ocean of delight, praising God with all my might, self is drowned.

So let it be: only Christ remains to me.

C.H. Spurgeon

Debs: I think it is feasible that everyone has the capability of that at least sometime during their lives.

But it is dependent also on what their particular faith/belief system is.

We see in John 6:39, 40 that Christ watches over us. "And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. For this the will of my Father, that every one who beholds the Son, and believes in Him, may have eternal life; and I Myself will raise him up on the last day."

"Our safety does not lie in our own hands or strength; for if it did, we should lose it a thousand times every moment." (Ursinus)

Today is the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year, the day when the sun stays the lowest in the sky. I have planned my trips to Alaska around the summer solstice, and have seen days when the sun never set up there. This time of year up in northern Alaska they never get the full sun. It is not a holiday, but a day I always think of how the universe was laid out and is run so flawlessly. It is an awesome wonder how the years come and go and the days get longer and shorter. Nothing man has made or will make can equal the wonder of God's creation.
