It's very important to post REAL AND RECENT PICTURES in profiles; it's better for all of us. Not really, only to the people that might be interested in your or that you might be interested in. What do you think about it? What I think is people are going to post what they want and how they want. Then when someone meets them or they meet someone they will make a thread about fake or dated profile pictures. If in doubt before meet and greets do a webcam session not a huge deal... I also would love to see a thread out here... WOW... Better looking than the pictures they posted... That would be a novel concept... just saying |

Some people don't post pics for many reasons (crazy ex, work, etc) and some aren't looking to meet.

What do you think about it? I don't think there is any such animal as "better for all of us," although that's what a lot of people say when they just want to tell other people what to do. I think people should only provide photos to each other after they've committed to meeting and need something to recognize the other. I think having restrictions and verifiable personal information like credit scores, medical records, work history, parental or family interviews, and tax returns would be more "better for all of us" than pictures. Real and recent pictures don't matter. Having real and recent pictures doesn't guarantee anything, the first meet can still suck even though online everything was great. Other than that good luck enforcing what you think is better for everyone. I think it's more important to judge the book by its content...
I read this a lot online, and it always makes me smile. A profile is no different than a book jacket. You've got a picture of the author, you've got a small snippet of the story, and sometimes you get 3rd party testimonials saying what a great "read" it is. By having a profile on a dating site you are saying "come read my book jacket and decide whether or not you want to try to read my story. Judge me by my cover, and send me an email." Anyone that truly believes it's more important to judge the book by its content should be petitioning against online dating and boycotting online dating sites since it promotes and relies on that very behavior. Of course, if they are here, they are also reading profiles, and judging whether or not they want to contact, or return contact, based in large part from judging a profile. That's why it's funny. Online it seems to be the very definition of specious and ironic. |

What do you think about it? I don't really think about it but thanks for asking |

I think it's only better in the sense of meeting them offline. If you're never planning on meeting them, there's no need to be that concerned about whether the photo's are recent or not.

My feeling is if you are in love only with the picture then you have bigger issues than having a recent picture to make your decision about people.
Now if someone posts a photo that has decidedly different features ; say one with a full head of hair and now they are bald that sounds like major misrepresentation but even then like the song says "I ain't in love with your hair." What I pay more attention to his how a person posts. If they are always lecturing and trying to prove how they are smarter, richer, superior, more this or that; whining, and always trying to fix a system that works; well See ya; would not want to be ya. Next profile. |

Well, lemme tell ya...
I use an "alternative picture" for good reason. See now, reckon it this a way over here, it's gotta be my auxiliary fuel tank that is the chick repellent. Here's how I know - wasn't always this portly and never had no problem get an ol gal to gnaw the gristle with me. But nowadays it goes like this - When I use my regular picture (Buddha) nobody will perv my profile (outside of forums), not even out of curiosity to see if I have other pictures available. I put up my "taken last week" face shot and there'll be 20 views (from people outside of forums) within a few minutes. So, by complex algorithm, my brain calculates this to mean I am alright to look at and it is the protruding abdomen that is so unappealing. I don't figure it would do me any good to try and court a woman that thinks that way. So I'll use the "blubber" shot until a sweet lil "chubby chaser" comes along. She can at least have some hope that I'll turn out to be "pretty in the face". In the mean time - ignore the girth and enjoy the mirth! |

i have both old and new pics on me
<shrug> and yes would be a big turn off if someone posted a pic of someone else and then waist the time to chat and get to know them , then meet and find out that its not even there pic they posted would be to me a lie unless they are posting a cartoon , car , animal , etc etc etc type pic |

It's very important to post REAL AND RECENT PICTURES in profiles; it's better for all of us. What do you think about it? thanks Yeah, that, and also a picture that shows you clearly and doesn't have other people in it, making you guess which one is the OP... So in that sense, your picture isn't really great for a dating site. Just saying ..(Dang hate that saying 'just saying' but it seems to grow on me, somebody help me!) |
