I don't put on up because of work, ( I would like too.. but I can't) but have given it to people after we get to know each other.

And on the reverse side, I base my impression of people on what they write.. not what they look like.

But I can understand why people don't like a profile with not photo.

It's very important to post REAL AND RECENT PICTURES in profiles; it's better for all of us.

What do you think about it?

thanks:smile:

I have to like the photo before I read their profile, and I would agree the photo should be reasonably recent. As someone commented in another thread, it's a good idea to post a few photos of yourself in different locations and situations, such as on day trips and holidays, instead of several selfies.

might be important to some people, but not better for all of us.

i enjoy reading posts with substance, humor and a sense of conviction. and i like it better if others will get to know me by that as well. looks can be deceiving and can give us a false sense of security, and that can sometimes get in the way of other endeavors. i have put my picture on here for a short period of time and have decided that i'm better off with it out of the way. besides, i like my avatars better than my pic ;)

and you're welcome

I only put up pictures that were taken no older than 2 years ago. I don't like to waste my time, or other peoples time trying to fool anyone. I am who I am, and all of us will get old eventually.

I actually prefer dating someone that is older than me, is carrying a couple extra pounds and has a few wrinkles. They are generally more mature, more intelligent, and more patient. One debutant in a relationship is enough...lol

New here. Less than a day. Anyhow I once almost got burned because of this very topic. Not on a dating site but facebook. My profile image was a few years old and somewhat misleading or so I was told. I looked up this girl I new in college and did a friend request. She accepted and we went out to dinner. She was surprised and somewhat disappointed that I looked a little older and had long hair. We did go out again. She actually invited me over to her place. So it wasn't a deal breaker.

On this site, when I signed up, I posted the only picture I had of myself. About 12 years old. It is still there but I added a couple of recent ones. Not trying to fool anyone. I only joined to help me stop thinking about a recent ex. Seems to be working. And no, it is not the girl I mentioned above.

slaphead
You meant the photograph itself was twelve years old!

I was wondering why in the H-E-double hockey sticks someone would use a picture of themselves at 12 years of age!

My only problem, is that some people decide they know which pictures are good ones of you, without ever having met you. They file complaints and arrange to have pics deleted based on what they assume you really look like.

I just wish there were a way to print a date by each photo. Problem solved if people are truthful.

Every image taken with a digital camera has EXIF info embedded in the image file. This includes the date and time. With software, this can be printed on the image. With camera phones, this info is accurate. With regular cameras, it depends on the time and date being set, so..........
