Know my Mingle pals believe in the power of prayer. So; going to ask that you put my Grandson, Little D, and his family , treatment team, and those who are trying to smooth his way through a very rough medical situation what they need. He has been a little trooper but suffered a lot of pain and procedures to get the answer that will hopefully lead to treatment even though it will be and ongoing catastrophic battle/expense.

Oh Pacificstar! So sorry to hear about your family's ordeal! I will keep them all in my thoughts and prayers and please keep us informed as to his treatment and how it is progressing! A special hug for grandma (((((Pacificstar)))))!

THANKS EVERYONE. So much. He has had a couple good days and trying to do school homebound but some days better than others. He is a social kid so the isolation is hard on him. He is too weak to play basketball but really loves it.

If anyone has ideas how to access a used Mac laptop they would be willing to swap it would make it possible for his Dad to talk to him when he is deployed. The school he goes to is paperless so they have his school computer but Daddy/Grandma only has access to Microsoft products at this time.

His Big brother Jay was able to make the Honor Roll in spite of his Autism trying to give his family some good news. Hurray! He tells Mommy and Daddy he wants to be a scientist and find a cure.

We are also trying to learn a very restricted diet to ease his "gut" problems. Anyone who is knowledgeable about Absolutely gluten free cooking sharing would be greatly appreciated. His is the hyper sensitive one so they are learning that not all that is labeled gluten free always is. Thankfully both of his parents are experienced cooks and he is learning to not eat anything they don't serve him but those who have experience in this guidance would be helpful. Asking leadership for truth in labeling legislation would help many they have found.

Also making it clear to legislators that military pay needs to be off limits to upcoming political wrangling and speeded up so when they are called out they don't wait weeks to get paid. It would help to if the relief programs that are open to active duty are available to reservists that were laid off in budget cuts but still serving when called. It is the not so little gaps in systems that make it even harder for families to find the help we assume is there but is not. I believe in my heart people do what is right when they can.

My son is particularly touched by the Prayers to Allah since much of what he did was to protect people in the Middle East from radicals and knows the mainstream Islamic people are our friends.

Again thank you for those who are praying for us as we pray for you and your loved ones. This is truly a special community.

UpDate; so Dad can be integrated into the care decisions;helping with homework, or just those all important Father Son moments when a child is sick the school district is researching how they can loan a Mac to my son when he is deployed under the assisted technology part of Lil D's Individual Education Plan. Yippie!

I just love it when fair and just laws such as Public Law 94-124 (Equal, appropriate, Least restrictive education for all ) work towards solutions. Grandma is really doing the Happy Dance.

Having worked with several children diagnosed with Autism I was thankful for the Public Law 94-124 INclusion instead of EXclusion; why it took a 'LAW'...better late then NEVER!

I agree 2Old but so glad it is on the books. It really pays to spread the word because the only way you can use a law to defend yourself and others is to know them.

I believe in a well rounded education but I do think sometimes we need to focus on giving our future parents and citizens some basic law knowledge as a requirement for graduation. Would like to see us extend our basic format here in the USA to include the two years additional that other countries do. That would make most twenty which is a major difference in maturity. Also I would like to see the option for students to drop out of school be ended. Without a diploma your life opportunities are very dismal indeed and we end up carrying most that don't have diplomas most of their life.

I have been looking into the assistive technology resources and I am amazed what is available and appalled at the cost to families. I know it seems like we are taxed to death but I can't see why we can't add a few pennies to everyone's technology purchases so those who really need them could have some kind of tax credit to pay for them. If a Doctor or therapist writes a script that it is needed to remediate a basic physical or cognitive function it seems like it would benefit society as a whole by making more people independent.
