Topic: How Do You feel right now? - part 3 | |
---|---|
Ever had a friend, that kept telling you they'd meet you at wherever, and never turned up? This friend has let me down many other times. Apparently he really cares about me. Funny because he fails to show up. Constantly. He never tells me why. A caring friend doesn't do that.

Happy that the staples/stitches that were suppose

No. But "friend" is a generally meaningless or ambiguous term due to its subjectivity. I mean some people call "friend" anyone they are friendly towards. Other people don't consider anyone a friend unless they've spilled blood together. I lean more towards the latter than the former. This friend has let me down many other times.
In my opinion, based on how I view labeling people "Friends," this is similar to how I deal with someone I'm in a romantic relationship with. I have to accept them for who they are and what they do that is normal and natural for them, not expect them to live up to who I want them to be. If they've let you down many other times then there is either a problem they don't feel you are friend enough to share with, or they are exhibiting consistent behavior towards you that helps define their personality. You have to ultimately choose what you are willing to accept. A caring friend doesn't do that.
You know the importance of the five love languages? It can really be applied to all manner of behavior. A caring friend can be flaky, they just may communicate how they care in a way that doesn't include being non flaky. It's not up to them to learn to communicate how you want them to. |
