Okay, I'm coming off my hiatus and I was thinking one day , we hear folks always saying " Oh You a hater "or "don't hate" when sometimes a person just have a honest critique or opinion. I give you an example, if I asked do I like a certain genre of music , or how do you feel about reality tv or a certain celebrity, or even a individual & I give my thinking of opinion then the word "Hater" may come about. My thinking is you ask me about a subject and I most likely may go the other way & give you my originality opinion or statement, then I maybe to some people especially if there young I could be considering a "Hater". So my question to my "Opinion Minions of Mingle" when does one opinion or statement of critique becomes a candidate as " Hater". when I was in my 20's ( not telling my age....lol) we would never thought of the word "Hater". So give me your feedback & opinions on this I'm very interested in hearing various minds at work. Shout out to my "opinion minions" out there, Yaw are my favorite followers. If I agree with what someone says, they have an opinion.


If I don't agree with them, then their statements were hate speech.


Simple as that.

to me it becomes a hater thing if someone is downright racist,bigoted and doesn't integrate with whatever because of those prejudices.to blatantly say to someone I hate u cos ur this that or the other.no room for hate in this world.i have been on the receiving end being called checkerboard chick black mans meat whatever when I was dating someone few yrs back.dont bother me in the sense of they didn't achieve their aim to upset.i wont tell u what I said back the air was blue lol.but yes someone who goes out of their way to be racist prejudiced or bigoted is a hater.

I think it depends on the way the opinion is stated. Opinions full of hate=hater. Also if it's a generalization of all based on knowledge of a few

Depends on how "sensitive" the reader is and need for want of controlling someone else's opinion to put a label on it. You know, ....labels.

Anyone who uses the word "hater", is a 'hater'... & severely immature.
It is like a toddler having a temper tantrum.
It is the same as saying " if you don't agree with me, something is wrong with you"

I don't think I've ever personally used the term "hater" on someone - but then, my grasp of modern American lingo is lacking (and I'd like to keep it that way).
However, I think that the term gets thrown around too much, to an inappropriate level. It's one thing to dislike a person, concept, thing, etc, etc for actual reasons, especially in the speaker's personal experience. It's another thing to just dislike or hate something because of a gut reaction or because of things people told you (probably behind another person's back). If you "hate" something for good reason, I wouldn't call you a "hater" for that. But if you "hate" something "just 'cause", then I would be tempted to call you a hater, especially if that's your default reaction to something new.

Hater

When a thought, opinion, belief is presented to the point of anger, bias, no room for others thoughts and beliefs. Then IMO that becomes hatred.. I personally believe when a person starts off with the word hatred in their mantra they are one of 3 types of people.

1. So afraid of the unknown that they won't allow another concept to enter into the arena.

2. They are so filled with anger from what ever has gone on in their own lives there is no room for anything else.

3. Ignorance and unwillingness to explore new ideas and options..

Just my humble opinion on the word or emotion of the simple 4 letter word
"hate"

I always speak my mind and it gets me in trouble at times, but I'm not going to change who I am at the end of the day, for anyone, or anything! Not everyone agrees with some other persons beliefs, but I see day, after day on here with some people who dish it out, but can't take some criticism back in return though? The bible thumping mob on here are the worst for it I think?

I would say when a honest opinion becomes infused with deep emotion that makes it hateful. It is a fine line though. Example a question regarding a racial issue and me being a white man I have been accused or being a racist or even a hater because my opinion does not side with the person of color. So I guess the gate swings both ways. This is a very good thread idea 2 fly best wishes to you.

Exactly I try hard to place myself in their shoes if it is getting heated.
I have to admit I have noticed a few sometimes that seem to make it personal I am like WTH... this is just an exchange of ideas, lifestyles etc.. In the whole scheme of things doesn't really matter we are all different.

Can you imagine how boring this world would be if we were all the same
