What will happen when service worker jobs that are unskilled are all that is available for employment?

Same as now, illegals will take them......

i firmly believe the "trickle down" effect never was designed to help the economy, but to make the rich richer... seems that putting more money in the hands of the lower/middle class is the only way to make the economy strong again... the rich aren't spending money like the poor would, and that's what the economy needs is the poor/middle classes going to the best buys, ma and pa stores, spending money where it needs to be spent... where as the rich only spend theirs on investments snd other things rich people have, just spreading the money between themselves...

if 99% of the population is spending money and putting it back into the system, doesn't that seem to end the problems we see today rather than when 1% are sitting on billions?

this is an excellent point......the rich 1% are so blinded by their own greed they don't realize they are so far ahead of the game, that even if they circulate only 50% of their wealth back into the economy....that money will soon be returning to their golden coffers.
they are choking the golden goose to death....

instead of deporting the illegals, why not focus on the companies who HIRE them ???
instead of a slap on the wrist, hand out some jail time to those who hire them...

... and we slide farther and farther from the free market economy that made us strong in the first place.

Why not just model our system after Karl Marx?

you need look no further than the airline industry in this country for an example of the greed of corporations....

the free market decided that several of these companies were mismanaged and deserved to go out of business....but how is that they have emerged to operate again ?

they successfully used the bankruptcy court to strip their employees of hard earned pensions, salary reductions, paid holidays, cuts in overtime pay, raising contributions to their health benefits and numerous other cutbacks...

they only want to use that free-market b/s when it suits THEIR goals....

the free-market spoke loudly when their stocks were taken off the big board...
please, tell me why they are still in business ???

Because they were able to manipulate the system. They absolutely should be out of business, just like any business that has a bad business model. "Too big to fail" is a bunch of BS. Why do airlines, big banks, and General Motors get bailed out, but not Billy Bob's Bait Shack, or Joe's Garage, or Betty's Beauty Shop? The answer is because the little guys can't afford to buy influence. And it's the same little guys who get hurt by increasing minimum wage. If you raise the cost of doing business, they need to cut costs somewhere. So now that guy in the bait shop who was making $10/hour is making $0/hour because Billy Bob can't afford to keep him on at $15/hour and cover other expenses. Fast food employees are hired by local franchise owners who need to make similar small business decisions, and not some big corporations who sells the franchise licensing.

It will cost the taxpayers more because at $15 minimum wage the corporations will require more corporate welfare to cover the cost while the mom and pop small business goes under from not qualifying for, or having, the same benefit of, or access to, those govt bailouts

Are people really that uninformed how things work in Corporate America?

They let us cut our own throats and when we complain they can say we did it to ourselves

the minimum wage is woefully low and should be raised to 15 dollars an hour for all entry level jobs....ceo's in this country would be well advised to emulate Dan Price of seattle based, high-tech company Gravity Payments....he has raised the bar for ceo's who actually look at employees as human beings rather than just production units....jmo

well, it won't help anything because the consumers are the only people that would suffer because of it...the companies, stockholders and CEO's won't lose money, so they would just raise prices on everything to compensate... so nothing would change at all...

great, maybe we could kill two birds with one stone

americans have more money to spend and if epoch profit going to ceos is left untouched so that the prices go up to compensate the difference

americans lose more weight deciding to just spend there increase at the grocery store

,, BENEFIT THREE

actually cooking and eating together with the family

,,,,,this idea is growing on me more each moment

And all are logically unsound and are NEVER the case. Like smokers, they'll cut out something else they need to buy their Mickey D's and biotch about it even tho they brought it on themselves!

Those in poverty should not be comfortable(I think Ben Franklin said that}. Minimum Wage is a great incentive to succeed.
'surviving' is not necessarily 'comfortable' is it.

That would depend on what your values are.

I only survive on a fixed income.... but I also adapt very well and manage to enjoy myself and live comfortably most of the time.

I dont agree with 15 only because it is relatively high compared to other positions. But I do agree min wage should be higher than it is.

many people disparage jobs that take 'no skill' yet, few would want to do them,,,its not for nothing to be someone who can serve others for the privilege of assisting their own desire to be lazy

whether it is something that required special training or not has nothing to do with whether they deserve a more respectable wage than they get,,,

Same correlation! Just coffee that can be prepared at home yet over priced..... and people still buy it rather than making it themselves

"It will cost the taxpayers more..."
Which is exactly my (main point), on the (illegal) immigration issues. We as Legal American Taxpayers can not afford it.
The average American tends to view it as the Government is footing the bill. And we are 'being mean to people' & ' most of us descended from immigrants'..... blah blah blah...

But what did our ancestors do? They came here legally, worked, learned the language, adapted, became American taxpayers & kept the money here. Which went back into the system & productivity.

It will actually cost the taxpayers MUCH more because evn giving the workers $15 an hour it is now only part time work, usually less than 30 hours a week, which means they are still applying for food stamps and other benefits as well as, and no small thanks to, Oblowmecare!
