AMAZED. You have read it right; I am amazed by the pictures some people upload with their profile. It is not a problem with specific age groups, but across the board...well, with the exception of the young ones. And progressively the problem gets worst as the groups advance with age. I will use one example. For a few hrs I looked at the age group of 60 to 65, and here are some results...I might be of by a few percentage point (but not by many).
Almost ten (10) percent of pictures are out of focus; you can not tell if the person is 25 or 85. By analyzing color, format, sharpness, background, clothing styles, I deduce that thirty-six (36) percent are at least 20 years old pictures. Then, to my utmost surprise, I find another twenty-one (21) percent to be new pictures, but representing maybe daughters, grand-daughters, nieces, or even a neighbor’s daughter, which are at least thirty (30) years younger then the stated age of the member (some 40 or more). What is the message, hit on me because I used to look great thirty years ago, contact me because I have a beautiful grand-daughter? Let us face it, most people look at the picture first and then read the profile. I understand someone not wanting their picture displayed (for whatever reason), so show a beach, a mountaintop, or even a cat or a dog, but do not insult the browser by claiming you look 25 when in fact you are 65. Plastic surgery is great, but not that great. |

AMAZED. You’ve read it right; I’m amazed by the pictures some people upload with their profile. It’s not a problem with specific age groups, but across the board…well, with the exception of the young ones. And progressively the problem gets worst as the groups advance with age. I’ll use one example. For a few hrs I looked at the age group of 60 to 65, and here are some results…I might be of by a few percentage point (but not by many). Eight (8) percent of pictures are out of focus; you can’t tell if the person’s 25 or 85. By analyzing color, format, sharpness, background, clothing styles, I deduce that thirty-six (36) percent are at least 20 years old pictures. Then, to my utmost surprise, I find another twenty-one (21) percent to be new pictures, but representing maybe daughters, grand-daughters, nieces, or even a neighbor’s daughter…which are at least thirty (30) years younger then the stated age of the member (some 40 or more). What’s the message…hit on me because I used to look great thirty years ago, contact me because I have a beautiful grand-daughter? For the money this site is charging for membership, the lease it can do is check such flagrant misrepresentation and put a stop to it. Let’s face it, most people look at the picture first…then read the profile. I understand someone not wanting their picture displayed (for whatever reason), so show a beach, a mountaintop, or even a cat or a dog, but don’t insult the browser by claiming you look 25 when in fact you’re 65. Plastic surgery’s great…but not that great. "The money this site is charging for membership"? What did you do, cut and paste your post from another website? |

I'm amazed people don't edit after cutting and pasting....hahaha
seriously though..... I have a range of pics from current to young and just put up the younger ones for fun and a laugh..... |
|
|
|
Nope. But I’m going to also post it on another site, where I’m a member, and that’s a paying site.

I can understand uploading 5 pics...and showing one when you were young...as you said, for laughs. But when you only display one, and that is 20, 30, or 40 yrs off....that I don't understand

I guess there are some who put in pictures that aren't theirs, even misrepresent with pics of famous actors or actresses! But you must have gone thru' a great deal to be able to come up with the breakdown.
Some of us do look our age in our pic or look even older. But sometimes the real pictures can be deceiving too. Eg. my profile pic taken just 2 weeks ago makes me look kinda young so, can't blame me if I want to use that, right?? Anyway, some of us don't pay any fees for membership.... it is a free site unless you upgrade. But to be fair to the site, there are just too many fakes out there....and so, if we spot any, just report. |

I looked at over 1000 pictures. One third, only, show current pictures. But look for yourself. You’ll have a laugh.

I have a picture on my profile but not my main picture because I would like people to read it first and at 52 I am sure they are not captivated by my looks. I understand your point though but you never know some might be scammers some might be shy, just have been go with it and see what happens. Best of luck to you sir.

I'm 62, look my age and really don't care - if people don't like my photo's fine, who really gives a dime. I don't want plastic surgery and look 20 years younger, I'm me and staying that way.
My photo's are real - just like me. |

Well, letz see... Besides an extensive background in the beauty business as a professional make-up artist, I'm also quite adept with various software digital imaging programs & photo manipulation. I have no problem in using professional photographers, said imaging programs & skills to maximize physical attractiveness in my own [recent] photos as well as the photographs of others.
Way before, "The Digital Age", in doing professional magazine/fashion shoots with assorted models; I made the observation that some individuals are just very photogenic. Many of these individuals, in the possession of this quality, would appear in "in real time/in person" to be thin/wasted, rough-looking,& somewhat unattractive specimens who made me, wonder how they could have been contracted by any top modeling agency to represent any icon of what & how, "Beauty" is defined?! Well, give these wankers, a great make-up job, proper lighting,state-of-the-art hardware, & the skills of talented professional photographers & VOILA! The photos would reveal, "A True Beauty"? capable of taking one's breath away, lol! Were the photos-Lies? Yes & No, I was there & helped in their real time creation.Sadly, the same is true on the opposite spectrum. There were fabulously attractive individuals who, by no fault of their own, do not photograph well & come-out, looking "Beasty" in their photographs. The moral of this story is that 2D images are only a small part of the whole story & unreliable at best in ascertaining the truth about real time appearance. This is the reason that whenever possible, I often insist on seeing someone on a web-cam before arranging a real time meeting. |

I don't care if the person has a photo or not, old, new or just of something they like. I almost prefer no photo so you have to concentrate on expressing yourself in writing. It is the person I want to know. The screening process leaves a lot to be desired. I can't say I like or don't like someone based on their photo, age and location. I want to read what they are doing in their life, what is important to them. If their passion is really massaging a lover's feet, they will not hear from me. I have a whirlpool that does that. What music are they playing in the background as they write? What book is on the bedside table and how long has it been there? My dearly departed and I met online in 1998, before dating sites. We wrote for 5 months before exchanging photos. Quality was not good back then. He had green hair and was kinda short and fat in the compressed photo that finally downloaded. I never did know what he really looked like because by the time we met I was seeing him/ his soul through the eyes of love and I think it was mutual.

Maybe I'm Amazed"
Baby, I'm amazed at the way you love me all the time, And maybe I'm afraid of the way I love you. Maybe I'm amazed at the way you pulled me out of time, You hung me on the line. Maybe I'm amazed at the way I really need you. Baby, I'm a man, maybe I'm a lonely man Who's in the middle of something That he doesn't really understand. Baby, I'm a man, And maybe you're the only woman who could ever help me. Baby, won't you help me to understand? Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Oh, oh, oh, Oh, oh, oh, oh, Oh. Maybe I'm amazed at the way you're with me all the time, Maybe I'm afraid of the way I leave you. Maybe I'm amazed at the way you help me sing my song, Right me when I'm wrong- Maybe I'm amazed at the way I really need you. Paul McCartney |
