What do you do when you believe that you have lost faith?

Before I answer, I would have to know more about your situation. I assume you mean faith in God. But more information would help answer the question.

God gives the strength to carry on.
Do u think that most of the people here are struggling for very similar things? God never gives us more of what we can handle. For me everytime I'm faced with such a situation, it's like somebody is telling me keep moving you butt. I just have to keep going always with Our Lord help. never forget that God is always next to you. |

I call her up and make sure she is at home
But seriously, God has a way of constantly reminding us of our blessing and the grace we have deserved. The man begging with the sign on my way to work, The pain of a fallow parent that child on the news, The person in the wheelchair at the store, and the list goes on. For the grace of there go I. All you have to is be aware of our blessing and faith is always close behind...... |

Maybe you’ve just confused god with Santa Claus? God hands you a box of Crackerjacks. You don’t find a prize in the box so you lose faith. But the Crackerjacks are still good aren’t they? |

I rarely lose my faith...
...in humanity. It takes a walk along the beach, and passing through this village to restore it.. |

Don't confuse 'lack of faith' with 'not liking your cirumstances'. It seems to me that you are hanging in there even 'tho you're not happy with your circumstances yet. That is definitely faith in action. Focus on the things you want and cut yourself some slack. Pretty soon you'll find yourself where you want to be!
Cheers and many hugs to you! |

Hey Classey,
What exactly do you want to have faith in? And secondly, What do you 'think' having faith is suposed to do for you? Considere these two questions well, before you determine if you have 'lost' faith; perhaps you never had it? Once you have decided what faith means, what you think faith can do for you, Then decide where putting your faith will best serve you. |

Jeff, Time to be foward do you like yourself??? Now if you say YES or NO you are the only person that can change that. Do you have two eyes working legs and in good health?? I hope the answer is YES. Well ask your self this Jeff?? Is a job or a date a big battle to you or small?? Attitude is everything . I am the most positive person you will ever talk to why?? Well because I am a belive in me. And I was saved 2 years ago so that also plays a big role as well.Regarding the job keep it in prayer. Ask friends to prey for you. The outcome will come. I strongly believe that the Lord has the perfect place for you to work. He just might be looking to see how patient Jeff really is. Regarding the girl. Prey for her as well. If you are ready to meet a mate have everyone you trust prey for you. I keep a prayer book I will add your name to it with your permission. Keep me post on this too things in your life.

Classyjeff,
''...I'm a great believer in luck (faith), and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it.” Thomas Jefferson. Do the work Jeff. Life owes you nothing. Neither does God. Life will be in a perfect dance with your willingness to think honestly, speak honestly, act honestly, and be responsible for that which you commit to. That's the work. No one escapes it. Invent your contribution in life honestly, plan it rigourously, and then work it through to it organic end. No work! No luck! No faith! Tell us the contribution and commitment you are to life, and life will deliver the correlate amount of luck and faith. Start the work NOW! |

Seems more like your just down but working on improving your spiritual life might help you deal with the difficult times.
Either way, some things I do to feel better and more at peace are to spend time in nature- I go to the beach a lot but parks, gardens, woods, lakes, streams, etc. can all be healing for me. Or you could try reading something inspiring, poetry or a spiritual work that appeals to you. And praying can be very helpful- for me I like to thank god for all the good things in life... it may seem silly but every day I try to thank the creator for something new- one day it might be penguins and one day popcorn but it always makes me think of how many great things there are on this planet. Music is also very uplifting for me. One thing I always try to remember is that life is full of surprises- some are good and some don't seem so great at first but theres always more to come so hopefully the next surprise will suit you better... |

It's ok not to believe in a god. Just be honest and kind to others that deserve it. You don;'t have to believe in any god to be a great person.

If one believes that they have lost faith I would assume that they won't pray about it so I would suggest that the person think back about what caused the them to loose faith Somtimes we may loose a loved one and blame God because they were not made well or a child was ivolved or lost to someone.I think that we as people get angry and blame God for things that we can't see why they occured but maybe we should remember that the Lord sees down the road on all the things in our lives and we must trust that He knows our pain and some things Will hurt us and even through the pain He will help us. We must also realize that we have an avesary and he the Devil seeks to kill steal and destroy and that life changing things will and do happen to us as Christians. That loved one that we may feel died before their time to us days were numbered before they were born and we should thank the Lord for the time we had with them and hope that we are better people becaused they were allowed in our life for the time they were or a lost relaltionship may have cost us our life who knows but God Knew and protected us in the long run. We sometimes just want what we want and get angry when we don't get it our way but we must place our lives in the hands of a Loving Father that sometimes says No to our Request And just as our Natural Fathers sometimes say No it does not mean that He doesn't Love us.

Jeff posted this same "poor me" whine on the current events forum a couple months ago. Some people think that when the graduate with a college degree they should immediately be tapped by some fortune 500 company for a position no lower than Executive Vice President or perhaps even CEO.
You have many more opportunities now than when I was young. You can sit on your butt and search for jobs all over the country and world from your computer. You have a word processor to prepare your resume and all sorts of internet sites to give you all the proper "buzz words" that mean nothing but tend to impress HR Directors who have been told in siminars they they should look for them. In short you have all you need but the motivation to get going. I told you months ago that the world does owe you a living but you are going to have to work your butt off to earn it. Now you are sitting here whinning that you have "lost your faith". Jeff if you don't like your current station in life, quit feeling sorry for yourself, GOYA and change things. Take whatever job is available and work hard at it. Success is 10% inispiration and 90% perspiration. |

wow -- heavy topic
Well, when 9-11 happened I struggled for almost a year tryin to get my faith back. Up until then, my faith was very strong. But even though I was having a problem spiritually connecting to my High Power, I continued to pray (because in my life anyway) prayer always worked. My faith is now stronger than ever, but sometimes I can't understand the world, but I continue to have faith in what has always worked for me. My Higher Power I call God and most times, He does for me what I can't do for myself. He carried me for many years when I didn't bother to acknowledge Him and kept me alive when maybe I should have died. Faith is different for everyone and a personal journey. I'm glad my faith has been restored. |

Interesting topic loosing faith. It seems to me that while we might loose faith it's important to remember that God never looses faith in us. When I'm down my most comforting verses in scripture come from Joshua Chapter 1 verse 9. I'd like to share it with those of you who have lost faith. By way of background Moses is dead. God comes to Joshua and says ok kid your it. I'm sure Joshua must have been scared bigtime thinking about what a looser he really maybe felt inside.
God said, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be discouraged or dismayed, for the Lord your God IS with you wherever you go". I find when I'm beaten that this promise is so very real. The point is for God to be God since he loves you bigtime the ownus and this promise is on God to hang onto you even though you believe your too weak to hang onto Him. |

classyjeff, have you lost YOUR faith or just the faith that you thought you should have?

Faith is something that just is......You have to know with every fiber in your being that no matter what, God is there for you...He will not forsake you, and unlike others, I do believe God puts you through tests to teach you to be more faithful. I will also tell you that prayer is the key....you pray to the Godly father, and ask him that whatever he has in store for you that he reveal it to you...and then you believe that whatever is meant for your life that he will be right by your side guiding you through. Also remember that when a door is closed another one is opened to you.
Lord I annoint you, and I thank you for all that you do in my life. I ask Lord that you lift up Jeff, and you show him through his prayer what is meant for his life. I know Lord God that through your Son Jesus Christ who died for us, that all things are possible. In your precious name this I pray AMEN and the people said AMEN |
