Interesting topic loosing faith. It seems to me that while we might loose faith it's important to remember that God never looses faith in us. When I'm down my most comforting verses in scripture come from Joshua Chapter 1 verse 9. I'd like to share it with those of you who have lost faith. By way of background Moses is dead. God comes to Joshua and says ok kid your it. I'm sure Joshua must have been scared bigtime thinking about what a looser he really maybe felt inside.

God said, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be discouraged or dismayed, for the Lord your God IS with you wherever you go".

I find when I'm beaten that this promise is so very real. The point is for God to be God since he loves you bigtime the ownus and this promise is on God to hang onto you even though you believe your too weak to hang onto Him.

……..Come my sweet let moon lit skies and stars reflect your beauty.
In silent awe see the heavens note your dancing eyes aged well with years?
Be not concerned about such mere concerts as time, nor body’s ravage;
For indeed you remain yet filled with worth and value and passion.
All men be but mere silly boys whose eyes slide past yours
In favor of younger, empty headed orbs and lust after youthful hollows;
Such have ever been God’s fools scattered among men of all ages.
But there be others in each age who stand with better eyes and steady gaze
In you they see possibilities held secret amid the night time stars,
…………..Men who equally lust after you alone.

Canoeing past a forgotten maiden in an abandoned cemetery
off the White Mouth river

Do you see her there hidden mid the branches all entwined,
Her concrete robe adorned by wild rose and wavy grass?
Notice how the maiden clutches her broken vase,
And gazes from behind her flowers and twisted thorns?
Her keep is discovered only by strangers such as I,
Bored with watching ripples trail from my paddle’s thrust.
See the sparrows fluffed in sun sitting upon chipped shoulders,
Taking their turns by generations to nest cradled in her vase?
Thus she holds her vigil until time crumbles to the ground,
This maiden and her vase.

But,….. I Gave My Word

It came one night, the end I mean, thus we live, two solitudes;
Sharing roof an empty nest and little else,
But……. I gave my word.
Off she drives into her world and I in turn to mine,
Each to apply the salve of busyness,
But……. I gave my word.
No hug, no kiss, no touch of hand, no whispers in the night;
To re-assure those dusty vows buried in a drawer somewhere,
But……I gave my word.
I saw her once by accident,her businesslunch across a busy room;
She looked, saw and nodded,eyes returning her colleague’s words,
But……I gave my word.
Thus the voice inside my head competes with the man I aspire to be,
“Leave”, it says. “It’s for the best".
But……I gave my word.
So the dance continues, and you may question is it worth this price?
To be alone save with work and thought,and these things I write,
But…….I gave my word.
And what be the cost to pay to exit this single vow?
Would the man in the mirror with his word cast aside,
………………..Still be the same man I am now?

A Figurine of Memories.....

“Do you see this figure? The ornament, a failed man I think. It’s ten cents.
Note the pieces lost, the cracks where unkind things have marked their hit?
It was no doubt, built with a smile I imagine, ….. but not so now.
Look hard amid the chips, is that yet the outline of a once boyish grin?
Fractured, shaped differently it seems, by stronger things than it could stand;
A rather ugly piece all in all, not worth the asking price.
Come, we’ll pass by this lump. See, there are other things over there”.
Thus they moved to other garage sale items, more in keeping with their goals.
Unnoticed, hands forgotten by youth, quickly grasped the man so badly worn by time,
As unlocked memories of other times flashed before her eyes when love was young;
Of passion burning bright as the night time stars and breath shortened by love's first kiss.
Calloused hands gently held a parting gift she too had once cast aside for other things,
Now, drenched in silent tears the old woman stood amid the discards, clutching her treasure,
And wondered of him and what might have been……..

To the Lady of Memories…..

Come my lady of memories, strike these embers so youthful lit and still yet smolder;
Amid their silent wisps of smoke the scent from ashes past awaits your presence.
Might we again yet share these coals unquenched by the passage of merely time?
You too hear in the night their passionate whispers beckon …….. as do I….
They call in waves at unexpected moments from places deep with in us both.
Oh secret ally and passionate treasure that you might slip across that void ,
That we might uncoiled embrace by action well beyond these feeble words;
To bring to flame these sweet passions that with in us chained do bide their time.
So to share again that held captive by circumstance in seek of loving touch......

……Life as unrelenting as a waterfall and just as deadly,
It flows without ceasing, powered by a pulse of its own.
Noisy, full of love, anger, promise, hate, and passion;
Spewing forth uncontrollable events no one is truly prepared for.
It drops on each of us trapped at times, breathless fighting to stand,
Each in the end finally soaked to the very being of our soul,
Lashed by that which befalls us for good or ill.
Yet here, between heaven and hell and life’s unrelenting pounding,
This be the place where true friendships are forged of metals equally unyielding
Untill as tears on the newer faces that take our place we all be washed away…..
